I had such a great time here over the Pfingsten weekend. Even with the wet and windy weather it was pretty big (but I could imagine how huge it would be on a dry and sunny day) and I spent 3 glorious hours wandering around and picking up little curios. As others have said, it was primarily professional sellers BUT that also meant that the quality of Trödel was very good... Mostly vintage or antique with very little modern trash from people's spring cleans (lovers of architectural antiques would have a blast here). There were a few sellers that I stayed away from as I could hear the ridiculous prices they were quoting for stuff just shoved in boxes but I found many many bargains at good flea market prices (there were even 1€ tables where I snagged vintage silver plated goblets for just a euro each) and my interactions with the sellers were professional and friendly throughout. The site itself is well maintained with plenty of food and drink being offered, seating areas, and portable toilets... Tip: there are indoor toilets in the hall facing the race track, these are cleaned by an attendant and they just ask the usual 50 cents for use. I can imagine that it would be almost overwhelming in size on a good day (not sure I would have wanted to go there with my kids when they were young) and because of the amount of profi sellers it might be a market that is best visited on occasion rather than often so the stuff has time to change. I will definitely be back with a pocket full of change and...
Read moreHad a lovely time wandering around this antique market at the Berlin racecourse! The atmosphere is wonderful, and there’s definitely more space to breathe compared to typical cramped markets - the massive racecourse grounds really make a difference.
What I found particularly interesting was the mix of vendors. Some are clearly professional dealers who travel from market to market, but others seem like local folks just clearing out their attics and storage rooms. It’s with these latter sellers where you can really strike some fantastic bargains!
Practical details: There’s food available on-site, and they have restroom facilities both inside the hall and some festival-style portable ones outside. The location is super convenient - just a 2-minute walk from the S-Bahn station.
One thing to note: they sell a lot of odds and ends, household items, and curiosities, but not much in the way of clothing. This probably makes it more appealing to Berlin locals looking for unique finds for their homes, though it’s definitely still an enjoyable experience for tourists who appreciate browsing through interesting antiques and vintage items.
Overall, a charming way to spend a few hours if you enjoy the hunt for...
Read moreVisiting the Antikflohmarkt at Trabrennbahn Karlshorst in Berlin felt like stepping into a treasure trove. From the moment I arrived, I loved wandering between stalls packed with old postcards, vintage furniture, quirky collectibles, and unexpected finds. The atmosphere is lively, with people chatting, rummaging, laughing, and discovering.
It’s not always neat, some parts are a bit chaotic, which actually adds to the charm. You’ll want to set aside a few hours because there’s a lot to see, and half of the fun is simply getting lost among the items. If you love vintage, oddities, or just browsing with no plan, this flea market is...
