Worthy place to stay and eat but service needs improving. (War & Peace version below.)

Stayed here for 3 nights recently in room 1, which like the others is on the top floor of steep stairs and steps in one building in the compound. The room gets the afternoon sun, so needed the noisy fan on full setting so as not to sweat so much. One advantage of facing Commercial Street is that the very loud 5am sermonising from some PA system a few hundred metres away hit the back rooms more.... effectively. Bring your earplugs!!

The 4 showers and 3 toilets are shared. The water pressure was low while I was there. So the weak shower spray often vanished, and the flow from the tap in the shower was weakish so took a while to fill a bucket. That and a dead bulb not being replaced despite informing the staff meant there was a little congestion late afternoon when guests wanted a shower. And as an early riser I'd find no toilet paper in the toilets and bins at the point of overflowing....

I had a delicious groundnut soup and 2 juices one evening. Great! The next evening I ordered an ice coffee with milk and vegetables curry with yam chips. I was brought a hot Nescafé. When I pointed out the mistake I was brought a Nescafé mixed with cold water with perhaps a slight dash of something white in it. The veg curry was a stir fry with some kind of paste stirred in and a couple of tablespoons of the same paste on one side of the plate. The yam chips were cut like french fries. I had one sip of the 'ice coffee' and left it. I ate about a third of the curry and yam chips and left the rest. It was one of the worse meals I've had in Ghana so far. To top it all the waitress turned down the lighting so that I was eating in near-darkness. She didn't take the hint when I used the torch on my cell phone to see my food to try to eat it. The total bill was 85 cedis I think. Lesson learnt: breakfast, juices, and coffees are good/great, the rest is variable.

Generally, customer service seemed lethargic. Odd as the guesthouse and it's restaurant seems to focus on volunteers and foreign tourists as its...

We enjoyed our stay here. They serve lots of tasty vegan and vegetarian food- so many options on the menu, and you have to try their delicious fresh juices. They have a cool gift shop with a great variety of hand made, fair trade products, as well as tailors & fabric onsite so you can get clothes made. Our room was a good price at 85GHS per night. On top of all of this, the money goes to a good cause. You can (and should) read up about it online/in their pamphlets, but basically all of the revenue from the inn and gift shop go into vocational training local youth. A bunch of these students are the employees. On that note, the customer service is very good- the staff are friendly and prompt. The room we had was very small but just fine for our purposes. It was 2 stories away from the toilet & shower which we didn’t really mind. It had fantastic views of the seaside and the town. There is a really cute second story terrace with great views where we sat, and I’m sure you could eat there if you speak to the staff. In fact I recommend it because their usual dining room is open and children come by asking for money often. Our complaints with this place are the musty smelling towels and the musty bed. We also got a ton of unknown bug bites over night! And a very fishy smell wafts in through the windows sometimes. Otherwise great. Would recommend if you’re looking for an affordable room, great vegetarian/vegan food options and want to support s good cause. Location...

The place is not bad at all. It is located a few steps away from Cape coast castle and the sea.

🛏:The room was clean and spacious. On the other hand it was very hot and this despite the fan. The latter could stop working while there is electricity.

🚿:The sanitary facilities are on the first floor and they are common. It's kind of annoying to have to make a whole trip to relieve yourself or shower, too bad .

🥗:As far as the food is concerned, vegetarians will enjoy it. On the other hand for us others who like meat and other, it is better to eat elsewhere ( around) the menu is vegan and not very varied for my taste .

😉🍍: I recommend the pineapple juice though, it's super good and refreshing.

📢: Regarding the environment, it is rather noisy . Expect to hear a lot of noise and especially on Sunday morning. If you are a light sleeper, I suggest you bring earplugs .

✂️: There is a sewing workshop if you want to make clothes. They usually do it in one day, consider donating your fabrics in time. You can find fabrics at the front desk as well as other products made by students at the school. You can find more info on this at.

🤑:The price of the rooms is affordable and one that is perfect for people...

The guesthouse rooms are basic but good price. Since October 2024 the WiFi is broken (I stayed in April 2025). The showers weren’t working due to problems with water pressure. It is challenging to get a reservation from my perspective. I confirmed my booking three months in advance but the day of arrival the rooms were sold to other people. Staff was very flexible to put me in the dorm and they changed the day after. The food in the restaurant is delicious but overpriced. I like the concept of only working with organic drinks and food. But It’s the most expensive food I had in a guesthouse. Soup is 70 cdh and normal dish start from 120 cd. Even for a small plate of potato chips as a side you have to pay 75 cdh. I also stayed in other eco lodges around Ghana where ordering foods contribute to the community. First of all it is well explained in percentages how they charge extra and the price were not that expensive. In this guesthouse it is not. They do offer a beautiful story of all their projects in the book.
