Thermopylae — Local services in Lamia Municipality

Anyone interested in the Greco-Persian War should see this wonderfully historic place where such an important battle took place. A visit to the two facilities (check out the 3-D movie at the historical centre beside the highway) and if you can find the little museum uphill from there, it also offers some good information about the battle. Στις Θερμοπύλες, εκεί που ο Ήφαιστος άνοιξε το πέρασμα για τον Ηρακλή και η ιστορία χάραξε αιώνια μνήμη, στέκει το άγαλμα, Μολών Λαβέ. Όταν πήγα εκεί για πρώτη φορά, δεν άντεξα και έκλαψα. Συγκινήθηκα βαθιά, ήταν σαν να ένιωσα μια εσωτερική ανακούφιση από τους πόνους που βιώνω καθημερινά κοιμάμαι και ξυπνάω με πόνους και για πρότη φορά για λίγο ανακουφίστηκα . Ήταν σαν να με άγγιξε η δύναμη εκείνων που θυσιάστηκαν για κάτι μεγαλύτερο από τον εαυτό τους.
