We got the Wildlife on Roatan tour while on a cruise. Price was right and the tour seemed like a lot of fun. Once off the ship we eventually found where to go (not exactly as described on the confirmation and meeting paperwork). Roatan port was a mess and the tiny 2 lane road was packed. Outside the port where we were supposed to meet the guide was dirty and poor and the abandoned shacks didn't make us feel too confident. We found the guide where they said they would be. She was obviously overwhelmed and stressed and kept saying it was the fault of the Police that they couldn't get their van in to pick us up, then she said there were too many ships in port, then she said the van broke down. Not sure what the real problem was. After 50 minutes of waiting in the slum under an abandoned shacks makeshift roof trying to find a little shade, another beat up dirty van arrived. He was nice and said he wasn't part of the tour but came because they needed help. At least it was air conditioned. We went to the very crowded and very small monkey and sloth farm. After about 30 minutes we got the tour which was fun but short. The guide there was very nice. We then got another driver in a much newer van to take us on the island tour. She was also very nice and allowed us and the other couple to decide where we wanted to go and when to be picked up. Despite a very uncertain and uncomfortable start, the tour was overall good. Gumbalimba park is much much bigger, cleaner, and more organized. We did that tour a couple years ago and would do it over again and pay a little more to not have to deal with exiting...
Read moreHad an amazing day on the Zipline & Snorkel Adventure in Roatan. Highly recommend! A tip if you are on a Royal Caribbean ship: once you get off the ship, you are in a small enclosed port and shopping area that you need to exit. Keep walking through the shop area until you can exit through a gate. You will see an actual STREET. There will be dozens of locals across the street holding signs for their individual companies/excursions. I suggest standing where you are at the gate and searching for the "Island Marketing" sign before you cross. Confirm with your tour guide and he will walk you to his van - don't worry, I know this is the "sketchy" part others have talked about in reviews, but as long as you've confirmed your reservation # with your guide, you're in the right place. Now for the review of the excursion: AMAZING! Zip lining was exhilarating and I felt very safe the entire time. They must have had at least 10 employees riding the lines the entire time. Snorkeling was everything everyone raves about in Roatan! AND we were the only 2 to book so we had a private snorkel guide for an entire hour! I realize this may not be the luck for everybody, but it definitely made our experience 10x better. Our guide suggested a restaurant on the beach and waited as long as we liked afterwards. There is a street full of shops and restaurants you can peruse. Thank you Island Marketing! We will definitely be booking with you on our...
Read moreThey never showed up and the local number they gave us was disconnected. When I contacted them (via email) for a refund and to see what happened, they tried to put the blame on me and then stopped responding to emails. Because we were trying to scramble for something to do (after waiting over an hour at the meeting location), we got scammed by a taxi driver. They sit and wait for people who's tour guides don't show up and ask if you only paid a deposit online, if you say yes, they tell you that you can pay them the remaining balance and they will get someone to take you on the tour you were supposed to go on. Once you have paid the balance (for the full tour you were supposed to go on) and are in the taxi, the taxi driver says it will cost an additional $30 to go to your 2nd stop, and an additional $15 to go to the 3rd etc. It was overall a horrible...
