Not far from Grindavik, drive east on the A1 a few miles and then left on road 42. The scenary changes considerably and you will reach Krysavik on your left after about 5 min. The parking is excellent and so are the instructions and wooden walking path in this unique naturepark. Boiling ponds and streams(!), colours of all kinds, rocks and sedements, vapours and distinct smells makes up a true feel of being close to unique nature. Continue north for impressive nature views like nowhere else!

The vibrant colors of yellow, red, and green, coupled with the distinct sulfuric smell, make it an unforgettable experience. Wooden walkways guide visitors safely through the area, allowing for close-up views of the hot springs and fumaroles. Perfect for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike, Krýsuvík showcases Iceland’s unique geological activity in an easily accessible location.

We were passing and no-one in my family believed about the stinky mud pools so we had to stop. We had a nice wander around for 30 mins and it is nicely done. There isn't much here but that's kind of the point. Enjoy the mad nature that Iceland...
