I was able to call in the morning and have a private lesson that evening for dinner. I chose Menu option 1 and made chai, tamarind chutney, a starter, a rice dish, 2 main dishes, a desert, and naan. Everything was clean and all the food was made from scratch from fresh ingredients and spices, including the paneer! The hosts were so nice and we ate the food together after. I got a packet to take home to help me remember what we did. I can't wait to make not only the dishes at home, but also to incorporate some of the additional skills I was able to pick up, like how I can keep dried tamarinds for many months and make fresh chutney as I need it, rather than buying tamarind paste at the store that will go bad quickly. Overall, totally recommend the class and I would like to go back and try a different menu if I have time.
Update: I went back for a second class the morning before my train. They allowed me to start half an hour early and helped my catch an uber to my train. And packed up the leftover food for me to take on the train. I chose menu #4, but asked to replace the default dessert (gulab jamun) with halwa. They had never taught it before and it's not on any of their menus but they happily agreed to teach me. Also when we were making it, the recipe calls for ghee at the end but we opted to leave it out and I think the dish was so much better without it! They were so accomodating and I'm glad...
Read moreNot recommended and he cancelled class in last minute !!!
I initially booked the cooking class for my husbandâs birthday on 10th aug a month in advance and the chef sent us email to request us to change to 11th aug - which was fine.
Yesterday morning at around 7am, 11 Aug, he sent another email requesting us to change to tomorrow instead because he said he had to go Delhi to send his son to the airport. First of all, We are not living in Jaipur and we are tourists, nor we are not walk-in customers that could change whatever his schedule allows, otherwise why I booked in advance with him??? I explained to him and then he tired to compromise by sticking to original plan. Then we carried on our site-visiting...
After 1 hour, I logged in my email account again, and received few emails from him by saying because we couldnât confirm on time so he already off to Delhi, obviously he didnt care and cancelled the class by his own interest. My husband and I had no clue since we didnât have internet as we have been travelling..its very rude regardless and he already made up his mind for not holding a class, obviously he doesnât care at all!! It completely ruined my birthday plan to my husband!! Thank you Chef for giving us such bad...
Read moreWe had a lovely afternoon with Chef Lokesh and his wife Geetika having a cooking class for four. Then menu included a range of dishes from snacks, mains and through to dessert.
We really enjoyed learning from Chef Lokesh who had a lot of knowledge and is really engaging. Chef Lokesh has so much experience cooking in different restaurants around the world including the Crown Prince of Dubai and the Bahraini Prime Minster ⌠so you know youâll be in good hands!
The kitchen and all utensils used were clean, all the vegetables are fresh as Chef Lokesh gets them from the market in the morning and bottled water was used in all the recipes.
You receive a pack with all the recipes and ingredients so you can recreate the recipes at home (which is readily available from shops in the U.K.).
During the class we had tastings throughout, at the end of making all the wonderful food, we sat down in their dining room to eat together which was a really nice touch. We even had loads of food to take away with us, so make sure you come hungry!
We loved this experience and would highly recommend if you are in Jaipur.
