So many people think being in a houseboat is a very great experience, but if you ask me, its quite okayish…I visited this houseboat in the first week of January 2022…now this is known to be the coldest month of the year, so I would expect pre-arrangements to be done for enough heating so tourists dont go through extreme cold. However, this wasnt the case…I would say lack of communication, as the housekeeper was not even aware that we are coming for stay…then once we reached it happened to be a case that it started snowing, so it became all the more cold, almost unbearable…and then it took more than 2 hours fot Bukhari (heating system) to start, even then it wasn’t warm enough…plus we had electric blankets, however they took even more time to become warm…I mean there was nothing we could do except of just being in the bedroom…food provided was ok, however we were served both meals at the end after people from other two bedrooms finished their food. I would say proper timings should be allocated and there should be a cycle as to who goes to east first. Overall, it was an okayish experience…I would say you can visit houseboat in summers as winter is definitely not one of the best...

Also it may sound weird but cozy rooms aren't just romantic but the need pf the hour. Now coming to review of Royal Dandoo, hospitality at its best special thanks to Sahir, Ishfaq and Munir, they were so helpful throughout our 3 night stay. The rooms are small (which is very much needed as they get warm soon), bathroom is small too but manageable. The moment you enter houseboat they switch on the heaters, anything you ask from tea to kehwa to snacks they get you homemade goodness. Food was really good specially the veg one which was to my surprise. In all it was a great experience in all and made our kashmir trip memorable, highly...
Read moreThis place was simply amazing. The exterior may seem only SLIGHTLY underwhelming but once inside, ah. The decorations are nothing less than a royal household transporting one back to the Mughal times. Starting from the sofas to the curtains to the bed and to the dining table, everything seemed regal and exquisite.
The view outside was also incredible, overlooking the serene Dal Lake and the mountains surrounding it. The noise was minimum.
In Dal Lake, one cannot miss out on the feeling of staying on a houseboat and this one definitely takes the prize in being one of the most beautiful! It also won a prize in TripAdvisor for its hospitality and beauty.
The staff were also extremely hospitable. But that's just Kashmir for you. Everyone is super nice and kind. They would make you want to visit over and over again. The scenery will already want to pull you back a...
