I booked to stay in the houseboat on 2nd Jan. It was expensive in view of the holiday season. Checked in at 6 pm. The house boat is freezing cold. You cannot sit in the living room nor in the bedroom. The freezing cold temperature is after they switched on the heating. By the way the heating in the house boat is via AC system which is inefficient for Kashmir weather. They don't provide any extra heating in the houseboat. You have to stay overnight in the freezing cold weather in the Dal Lake. The care taker gave us one hot water bag for two us for the whole night!. My stay lasted 2 hours in the house boat and I checked out after having paid the full amount. I would not recommend anyone to stay in this house boat in winter. Miserable stay. If the owner of the house boat cannot provide good heating in winter, then he shouldn't rent out the house boat. I would have given less than one star if possible. I am sure the house boat management will reply after reading this review - with a usual message that - Sorry we could not find...
Read moreWorst experience. There was no one staying and no electricity when we reached, very scary, no board which says which boat it is. Very rude staff, keep on asking when you are leaving and all unnecessary questions. Only way to commute is shikara and they make you beg for one. They asked us to look for our own shikara when we wanted to come back to house boat at 11pm after dinner as staff was very anger on the fact that why we have not opted for there limited/ average/ overly costly Dinner. There is practically no view from this house boat, there is nothing worth of what cost we paid for the stay. Worst experience ever with this booking. They will only offer 1 1ltr water bottle rest is chargeable. Our room is next to kitchen.. early morning they start making noise and if you ask for anything first they will ask till what day you have booking and when you are leaving and then answer the question...
Read moreWhen you think of Srinagar, you think of Dal Lake, then you think of House Boats.
Prince of Kashmir is a luxurious House Boat, tied up with Club Mahindra, with most of its standards maintained.
I stayed in this House Boat for four nights. Initially, I was a little hesitant to stay in a House Boat for long duration, as I was concerned about Water smell, comfort level, food etc. However, after checking in, all these doubts disappeared.
Dal Lake has lot of plants floating over the top, people might easily mislead it to fungus, but it is not. They are just plants coming from inside the water. No smell from water, whatsoever.
The comfort level and food in the boat house is pretty good and the caretaker took care of all our nitty gritty during the stay.
Also, the shikara is provided free of cost, for travel between boat house...
