Hell yeah!! we did the trekking I just wanna say it's not that easy as mentioned in other reviews, we did complete trek by our own without guide or locals, How to find the way to begin the trek??? 1)On the way to Badnekhan estate(Basarikatte) there is a small village called Kavanalla there you can find one chicken shop and a grocery store just beside the road(roads are terrible but it's joy for offroading), on the left hand side of the store there is small narrow route /steep, start heading in the same way, approximately after 100 mts there you will find a house talk to them inform them about your trek, and the trek begins from their house 2) Never try to enter Badnekhan Estate for the trek they won't allow you or if you enter anyhow it's completely illegal they can take action 3)Initialls the trek begins through the dense coffee estates which is quite relaxing to smell the odor of the estates but the catch is that leaches will trouble you insanely, and beware of the vipers 4)Keep your way straight in the estates never take any deviations there are high chances you will endup loosing the route 5)Atlast when a dead end appears (or the way which appears like a steep appears from where you can easily witness the peak) it will be on your left hand side take the deviation 5)Now the challenging part begins the trek will test your fitness and your courage like the hell, but it's worth when you witness the majestic view from the top 5)At the top there is a small Ganesha statue where your trek ends, from that point one can witness Hornad Annapurneshwari temple 6)Don't try to decline from the other end towards temple as its very challenging and almost very difficult to do 7)Carry citrus fruits, Banana's etc instead of chips, or drinks 8) Trek responsibly keep the environment clean and plastic free especially the estates. 9)We begun our trek at 9:00 AM it was 1:30PM when we reached down that is at Kavanalla...
Read moreIt was an amazing experience hiking in fog. We started bit early with our guide, walked through the hill path. A hill station in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. The trek to the peak can be tricky and the plantations are very slippery. Merthi Gudda is located in the western ghats range. Trekking roots from Basrikatte include: Merthi Khan Tea Estate Badne Khan Coffee Estate The Aane Gudda trek offers views of Meruthi hill, Kudremukh, and Ballalarayana Durga. The trek also includes an aerial view of Haluvalli, Kalasa, and the surrounding region. Hiking in fog is a surreal and captivating experience. As you ascend through the mist-shrouded forest, your surroundings become a mysterious world of muted colors and soft sounds. The air is cool and damp, and the ground feels soft beneath your feet. Visibility is limited, creating an aura of solitude and introspection. The path ahead is veiled, unveiling surprises gradually. The occasional emergence of twisted trees and rocky outcrops adds an element of discovery. Bird calls echo mysteriously, and the scent of damp earth fills the air. Hiking in fog is an immersive, otherworldly journey, where the ordinary transforms into the...
Read moreMount Merthi is one of the least explored territories in the Western Ghats, offering an adventure that is both exhilarating and breathtaking. We embarked on our hike during the peak monsoon season, which added an extra layer of excitement and challenge to the journey.
The area is teeming with dense vegetation and wildlife, requiring caution, especially during the monsoon. We relied on a local guide to navigate the trails, and at times, we found ourselves feeling disoriented. However, our guide from Koppa remained confident, ensuring we safely made our way back to our accommodations.
Despite taking all precautions to avoid leeches, we still ended up with at least a dozen of them by the time we returned. With slippery surfaces, constant rain, and heavy winds, the hike was truly a task to accomplish—a memory that will stay with us for a lifetime. One unforgettable moment was when a mountain deer leaped down a cliff right in front of me, taking my breath away.
This experience reminded us that when amidst nature, we must stay humble, treat it with respect, and remember that we are visitors in its domain. Mount Merthi is a place to cherish and admire,...
