Read moreHospital policy well set to mint money from the patients. Charges the consultation fee even for reviewing test reports. I have had the same situation multiple times where I was charged for visiting the doctor to show the reports for the tests prescribed. The one I encountered today is the more significant one and the hospital staff has only one answer - "It's our policy" or "Talk to the doctor (in billing at gynecology department 11-Jan at 4:00 PM).
Now coming to the hospital policy - Patients are charged for follow-up consultation if the visit is not within 6 days of the actual (paid) consultation. Fair enough....
I had visited a doctor in gynecology department on 4-Jan-2021 (Monday). Prescribed a list of tests. All the tests were done on the same day at around 4:30 - 5:00 PM. Test results for one of tests were to be delivered on 8-Jan-2021 (Friday). I have provided my email id for sending the reports, but the I had received the reports partially as the one that was to be delivered on 8th never received.
Now coming to the availability of the doctor as I was told by the staff/ customer support - Monday and Thursday in Mazumder Shaw. Finally I called the doctor on today (Monday) morning and she suggested us to come between 3:30 - 4:00 PM in the afternoon. We reached on time and initially the reception denied to admit our file saying they were closing OPD. Finally admitted when I mentioned about the discussion with the doctor. After a couple of minutes the assistant from the doctor's cabin instructed the ladies at the reception to have me pay the consultation fee. When I said that it was for reviewing the reports, they asked me to talk to the billing counter on the same floor (5th). Went to billing counter but did not have a pleasant experience with the approach of the lady at the billing counter. I was finally made to pay the consultation fee saying that it was after 6 days of initial consultation.
How come one have the follow up consultation within 6 days if the patient is put under the following situation????
Initial consultation on 4-Jan Doctor's availability within 6 days in the facility are 4-Jan & 7-Jan. A part of the reports were to be delivered on 8-Jan. Next availability after receiving all the reports was 11-Jan (Monday) and we visited the doctor and made to pay.
One question comes to my mind - Does the doctor prescribe at least 1 test where the reports would be delayed to to make sure that the hospital does not have to offer free consultation even for reviewing reports.
Even in the earlier occasion where I was made to pay when I was there to review reports as one report was done outside and report was available after 5 days. I spoke to the Billing Manager in Mazumder Shaw too, but he also kept talking about the policy. When I had said that I would be escalating the unethical practice, he had very confidently and in not so polite way responded - "You can escalate and you will have the same answer from the...
Read moreI had walked in for vaccine for covid on the 4th Marc 2021. This review is only with respect to the vaccination. Since there was no slot available near my home at Bannerghata Road Bangalore I choose Narayana hirudalya (NH) which is about 40 minutes drive from my home . I reached the hospital quarter to 8 , at the main entrance one person car not allowed but when I told him international wing he allowed. There are signs to show where the vaccination centre and fortunately I got a parking infront of the wing . The security at the building helped said I need to pay the fees , better I seat my wife( as she has problems n walking)in the hall where vaccination done and then pay the fees. I was the first person to pay the fees for vaccination it was Rs 250 per person and they gave 2 copies and informed that one will be retained by the person who does verification at covid portal of the govt. NH has organized to take care of the crowd had put up shamiana in front of the international wing . There were no one till 8 am and around 8.15 I was told to get my verification done for the vaccination, by then there were about 6 people. There is separate counter for verification, they take your aadhar card and book appointments and in the same time they load in the govt portal . Immediately I got sms of the appointments and also that ijad been vaccinated and certificate can be down loaded . They retained one copy and stamped with NH stamp and asked me to proceed to vaccination. It was by then 8.30 am and people started coming in vaccination. There were enough people to register and do the verification 4 people each. At 8.45 am the nurses stared walking in. By then there was enough crowd about 60 to 70 people. The admin supervisor started collecting the stamped forms and said I will call you and tell you which room you need to go for vaccine.
There were no sequence in calling people for vaccination but it doesn't matter as it takes less than 2 minutrs per vaccination. Me and my wife called at 9.20 and my wife was inoculated at 9.21 and I was at 9.23 . There are 2 nurses one gives you the vaccine other writes in register your GOVT ID and after the vaccination they give fruit juice and bottle of water. They inform you to go and sit on the other side of the hall for observation for 30 minutes but there are no other information. On the other side there is a nurse for observation and two beds.
There are 6 vaccination rooms and done in a precion, by the time we finished and waited hardly there were any crowd . Barring the priority not given for vaccination as who came first other wise it was smooth for the price of Rs 100 they warn for each vaccine whic is pittance as I see they have deployed 30 to 35 staffs...
