Dear Prabhu sir,
I would like to bring to your notice the arrogant and unprofessional behaviour of the orthopaedic department. This feedback is particularly to Dr. N Selvam and his nurse.
After waiting 20 mins for our turn, Dr Selvam checked her around 12.15 and said that we need to take an X-ray and see him after that. Immediately we ran to the cash counter paid the X-ray fees and took mom for her X-ray. The slow lethargic X-ray team made us wait and finally we got the X-ray done by 12.40pm.
We ran back to see dr Selvam to get his opinion but the nurse told us he has left for lunch and will only be back at 2.30. My parents are both 64 and 70 and hadn’t eaten or drank water since morning. Both are diabetic and bp patients. The nurses insisted we wait till 2.30 or come back later. I asked them to call dr. Selvam and check if he can come back a little early and they said he isn’t picking up the call. This made me very furious and I questioned them asking if this is a general hospital? I am visiting this super speciality hospital and they didn’t even have the courtesy to call me and let me know that the doctor is leaving. Not to mention my dad was sitting right outside Dr. Selvam’s office. Just highly unprofessional. We left for the home and called the hospital around 4 to ask if we can come now and the nurse mentioned that dr Selvam is about to leave. He didn’t even bother waiting for his patient. The nurse said he is available the next day around 9. She clearly mentioned that the dr goes for his in house patient rounds and will be back by 9.40. We reach the hospital at 10 and that is when all the DRAMA BEGINS!!!! the nurse refused to make any eye contact with us rather avoided us and passed our file to another junior nurse. We were made to wait for another 10 mins despite of no patients being inside the visiting room. Once we entered the room Dr Selvam was very cold and gave 1 word answers. He silently viewed the X-ray and started writing something in the prescription book when I asked him about the X-ray he asked me to be silent as he is writing. Once he was done he just said has acute spinal wear and tear due to age and prescribed her medicines. When I asked him what the X-ray reads he very arrogantly mentioned that I would need 20 yrs of experience to read an X-ray. Up until then we didn’t realise he was annoyed with us in any way. We asked him what is the permanent solution to this should my mom start yoga or any exercise but he just said have meds and eat calcium tablet. He refused to make any eye contact with me all this while. At one point he even threw the X-ray toward me asking me to put it in the cover just tryin to prove his authority and position. As we were about to leave he stops us and says that he is upset with us and that we made some remarks the previous day that he didn’t like. He insisted that he was in the hospital till 1.30 while the nurses mentioned he had already left at 12.40. He went on to say that if I want to escalate this issue to the management, it wouldn’t matter to him as he knows what to tell the management. When I tried to explain my point of you he refused to make any eye contact and raised his tone at all of us in the room . He very specifically mentioned that he is a diabetic and needs to eat on time and thus left. Weren’t my parents hungry too ? Weren’t they diabetic too? Has Chettinad hospitals standards dropped so low that they will treat their patients sooo carelessly.
I am happy to have a call with the management and escalate this issue further. Please reach out to me in private. But this has left a very bitter experience for me and despite of the wonderful service Chettinad has provided me all this while , this one incident has forced me to rate this hospital at 1 start instead of a 5 star.
I hope some action is taken against MR. Selvam and his arrogant nurse. They are doctors and need to act professionally. Not yell and throw their degree on our face . He may have 34 yrs of experience as a doctor but has zero yrs of experience when it...

I had a very disappointing experience at this hospital, and I feel compelled to share the concerns we faced during our stay:
Lack of a Dedicated Pediatric ICU: Despite being a large hospital, there is no separate ICU for children. My child was placed in the ICU very close to adult patients, which was very distressing and inappropriate for pediatric care.
Uncomfortable Environment: The air conditioning in the ICU was set too high. Despite my child shivering from cold fever, no action was taken to adjust the temperature even after multiple requests.
Poor Communication from Doctors: The doctors did not listen to our concerns at all. Both my spouse and I were unwell, and we requested a separate ward. Instead, they kept us in the ICU for 50 hours without any clear reason. It felt like an unnecessary extension, potentially for financial reasons. Additionally, we were pressured into doing an MRI scan before leaving the ICU, even though we were told it would be done after the fever subsided.
Inconsistent Care from Nurses: Except for one exceptional nurse, the rest of the nursing staff was unhelpful. We were asked to bathe our child ourselves without any assistance. Their behavior was indifferent, and they did not provide the necessary care, acting more like attendants than medical professionals.
Lack of Support in the Ward: Once we were moved to the ward, the situation didn’t improve. There was no hot water available for bathing, and when we requested it, we were told to waste two buckets of water just to get hot water. Even after complaints, the same unsustainable practice continued.
Delayed Discharge: Despite my child's fever reducing and the MRI scan being completed, the hospital was reluctant to discharge us. This was similar to the unnecessary extended stay in the ICU, raising concerns about their motives.
Exceptional Nurse and Support Staff: The only saving grace was one nurse, who went above and beyond to help control my child’s fever and provide proper care. The cleaning staff and those in charge of changing bedsheets also did their jobs well, which is the only reason I’m giving this review a single star.
Overall, the lack of communication, unnecessary delays, poor nursing care, and questionable practices made this experience extremely stressful and frustrating. I hope the hospital management takes this feedback seriously and improves its services for...

This is the second time, I'm writing this review, they've deleted my earlier review and showing only high stars.
Money Money Money is the motto.
Money extraction is the only job done right from Parking Entry -- Emergency -- Admission -- Discharge -- Parking Exit. Doctors in Emergency were horrible, that they will always asks you to go for admission. My father was admitted here for 4 days due to UTI and got discharged. Even after discharge, the symptoms were there, Took him again to Emergency, they say admit again in ICU. When Enquired, why admission again within a day, Doctor just rudely told, "I'm Emergency specialist, admit him, Insurance patient only right, Treatment will be explained by ICU Doctors". Whereas in ICU, Doctors will not even speak with you for few minutes. ICU Reception / Manager was rude and was yelling at the attenders. No room for ICU attenders stay, They all have to wait in Verandah near ICU whole night under mosquito bite. If something is questioned, they will ask to reach the Admin In-Charge. Even with complaint, he'll take action, sometimes will sit on reception and will say I'm not admin, I'm just for fee collection. Every workers there are very poor in communication and has no empathy towards patients / attenders. It was supposed to be one of the good hospital in that area, due to Infra space available and no other big hospitals in that region, but it is not the case. No proper Ventilation in the reception or any other area, No proper waiting area for OP Patients / Dialysis attenders, No Portico in the Super Specialty Entrance, During rain, either the ambulance / auto, you got to reach doctor drenched. This Hospital is mere money monger. Even the wheel chair attendant demands money every time. Parking is a chaos as well, No proper management except collecting money. No one takes responsibility. I won't recommend this hospital, As it is the only available option in the area, people are going to it.
If feasible, Please go to some other good hospital.
