Marlfield Lake — Local services in The Borough District of Clonmel

Nice quiet small lake with a duck, swan and other waterfowl feeding or observation area. There are signs up advising people not to feed bread to the birds however, as it can make birds sick and gunk up the water. So if you'd like to feed the birds it's better to bring something other than bread. There are a few benches and some tables around for picnics. Good for dog walks. If visiting with young kids you should note that while mostly quiet it is an active road so some traffic will pass by and there is no footpath. Traffic is generally very slow moving hear to be fair Also the waters edge is unprotected and pretty much level with the road in all the areas away from the benches. But the water is not deep...

Really good place to go for a walk. If you have children, this is a great place to visit. Stand at the viewing point and feed the ducks, not not with bread as the sign on the lake says. The children can do a bit of exploring on the hillside, see the birds in their natural habitat feeding from the well positioned feed tables. If you are energetic, a walk south into the village of Marlfield or along the drive to the "big house" of Marlfield and see how the other half lived. This is a beautiful and scenic area, ideal for all ages. There are only 2 problems I've noticed, and neither are to do with the lake: Cars driving through often go way too fast to be safe for walkers.
