Agriturismo Torraiolo — Local services in Barberino Tavarnelle

Time has taught me that hard earned holiday opportunities are precious, so much changing world to see in so little time that it rarely makes sense to 'go back'.... and yet I find myself here yet again in this Tuscan valley where time stands still and the people I meet from across Europe make their own return, year after year, feel like a secret that I shouldnt really share. Having lived, worked and travelled across Italy over more years than I care to admit this Agriturismo with it's timeless vineyards and olive groves feels like 'coming home' and captures the most authentic Italian experience imaginable. A serene walk up the hill to the historic cafés, bars and restaurants of Barbarino Val D'Elsa or short drive to Lucca, Pisa, Florence, San Gimignano and Siena are just distractions from the tranquility of the dappled shade of the pristine pool and breathtaking views from the clean and spacious farmhouse style apartments. If the Italian sun is such that you might need Aircon, or that your time is so limited that a day or two of the thunderstorms that keep Tuscany so green (or even making the Italian coffee that can only come from a moka pot!), might frustrate your plans, then perhaps this one lies a little further down your road...more for travellers than tourists but to each his own and whatever your needs and expectations no one could be any less than enchanted by this...

We spent one week with our 3 kids (2,6 and 7). We had a great time. If you want to book, ask for a flat on the ground floor to benefit from a direct access to the terrasse. Below what we enjoyed and what could be improved :||Pros :|- very well located just outside the city so you can enjoy the country being really close of shops and restaurants, including a convenient grocery shop just at the end of the road|- Big swimming pool|- Nice barbecue area|- Nice shared area with tables without car (but you can park really close)|- Possibility to have a cot (not so common)|- Dishwasher (same comment)|- Large rooms compared to other agroturismos||Cons|- no high chair for our 2-year old (the usual (cheap) Ikea one would do the trick)|- Wifi only at reception (not in the flats and by the pool|- Don't forget...

The location was superb and as pointed out by other reviewers ideally located for visiting the main sights.We had an apartment on the top floor and what a delight it was to wake up every morning with the Tuscan countryside in full view.We booked the two bedroom apartment as we were travelling with my 11 year old stepson.The apartment was large,spacious and very comfortable.Don't forget to back insect repellent!||||The layout of the kitchen.You have to bend quite low to reach any equipment.Our fridge wasn't functioning properly.||If you intend to cook and dine outdoors the I would advise you to book an apartment on the...
