Oshidori-gakushi Falls — Local services in Chino

Oshidori-gakushi Falls is one of the waterfalls along Shibukawa River. It is located up in the mountains, in the highland thermal resort of Oku Tateshina, a few steps’ away from Mishaka Pond and Yokoya Gorge.

The three-tier waterfall is very lovely, especially in autumn when the surrounding foliage turns red. A special kind of moss called Chatsubomi Moss grows underwater, on the rocks and riverbed, thus creating a stunning contrast between the azure water, the emerald moss and the reddish rocks.

１月中旬に訪れました。 松谷温泉旅館に宿泊する日に、山仲間とおしどり隠しの滝まで遊歩道利用し、名物の氷爆を散策しながら往復しました。

氷爆を写真に撮ったりお茶をしながらゆっくりと歩いて、往復３時間程です。

おしどり隠しの滝には、チャツボミゴケが真冬でも緑鮮やかに自生していました。

酸性で赤くなった岩と鮮やかな苔の緑、それに今の季節ならではの雪と氷の白と青空のコントラストは、初めて見る素晴らしい光景でした。

滝の目の前にある明治温泉（冬期営業中）までは車で行けますので、おしどり隠しの滝だけが目当てならば、そちらから行くことをお勧めしますが、松谷峡の氷瀑も見応えありますので、時間に余裕があれば、松谷温泉からの行程が個人的には楽しめると思います。

遊歩道に危険箇所はありませんが、雪と氷がありますので、チェーンスパイクなどの滑り止めは必須です。 急勾配の上り下りの階段もあります。
