Had a great stay at Horaikan. This hut is at the mid point between 5th station and the peak. It took us 2.5 hrs (12pm-2.30pm) to reach Horaikan, and another 2.5 hrs (2am-4.30am) to reach the peak, mostly due to the morning jam. We booked a 2 pax pod (about 2m by 2m) which we found was pretty spacious and had plenty of space to put your belongings overhead. We had the top bunk and we could both stand up straight in it. Small plug in night lights are provided and there is 1 charging points for each person. You can charge your electronics there. Our data reception was also decent. Toilets are bio toilets and very clean. Food were priced ard 500-700 yen and bottled water is 500 yen each as of Summer 2024. The staff were very nice and spoke decent english. We reached the hut pretty early at 2.30pm (i believe actual check-in hours are suppose to be from 4pm) but they checked us in without qns and also explained in detailed what to expect from the huts. Would definitely recommend this hut for the wonderful service. But do note that it is still a distance away from the peak, if you would prefer to start your hike later the next morning, you should try to book a hut at a...
Read moreWe didn't expect to sleep at this hut due to another higher hut booking. But with the typhoon, the weather was very bad; heavy rain, strong wind, we are too exhausted to go ahead, and diceided to stop at this hut. Luckily that they do have space available for us. The staff is really nice and kind. Some of them can speak good English. Eventhough, some might not be very good at English, they try very hard to communicate with us. They try to help us as much as possible, maybe because we look terribly bad. Their dinner is the most delicious curry rice i my life. And their bedding are very warm and clean. Highly recommend this hut to everyone. I will definitely stay here again for sure for the next attempt to...
Read moreI stayed here in mid August (during Obon festival), to do the sunrise trek the following morning. It took me 2 hours to hike from Fuji Subaru 5th station and then another 2hours to the summit from the hut, so it’s right in the middle. The staff were so hospitable and the food was great considering how remote the 8th station is! The sleeping area was comfy and allowed me to get a couple of hours rest before heading out at 11:30pm for the summit. The only downside of the trip was a bloke snoring so loudly in the bunk next to me, but that’s on me for not bringing ear plugs 😂. Also while the location is good, it would be advantageous to stay higher up to reduce the effort required in...
