大森の鳥見神社は印旛沼の北側に多く鎮座する鳥見神社のうちのひとつです。本殿の素晴らしい彫刻、煉瓦造りの玉垣が見所です。玉垣は1913年建築、本殿は1863年再建の記録があります。午前中が順光で、木漏れ日の中の本殿は見る価値があります。

本殿の彫刻は素晴らしい！本殿左側に説明書きがありました。本殿は、煉瓦塀で囲まれて中に入れません。拝殿は管理されて無いように見えました。銀杏が沢山落ちてました。20201003に参拝させて頂きました。

大森鳥見神社は、饒速日命（にぎはやひのみこと） ・御炊屋姫命（みかしきやひめ）・宇摩志眞知命 （うましまちのみこと）の三柱（みはしら・神様 の数え方）を祀っています。

鎮座年は明らかでありませんが、本殿は寛永13年 (西暦1636年)12月再建、延宝4年(西暦1676年)修繕、 文久3年(西暦1863年)3月再建の記録があります。 犬鳥居は元禄12年(西暦1699年)5月の建立で、 手水石（ちょうずいし）は嘉永2年(西暦1849年)奉納、 狛犬一対は大正5年(西暦1916年)奉納、御神輿は寛政 6年(西暦1794年)に造られたものです。

本殿には四周に見事な彫刻が施されています。 杉の木立に囲まれた境内は、797坪(約2,630m)の広さ を有し、さらに拝殿の左右に権と銀杏の御神木は樹齢 500年以上の巨木です。

現在、平岡の鳥見神社に伝わる獅子頭と獅子舞は、 元来、大森の鳥見神社に伝わるもので、赤松宗旦著 「利根川図志」によれば、大森鳥見神社では文明年間 (西暦1469-86年)の頃から獅子舞が社前で舞われていた と伝えられています。
