If I revisit the Chugoku region, I would choose KIX or FUK instead.
First, the location is remote. No railways to connect. Only buses and they mainly go to JR Hiroshima and Hondori. That means u mean long waiting time or no option for other places. Instructions for public transport are not clear.
Second, not many food or shops. Only a few food stores and shops. Better buy some food from convenience store.
Last, the ground crew was not professional. My luggage was damaged and the crew directly gave me a sheet of paper. She demanded me to sign without informing me of the T&C. She kept demanding me to sign under the situation which I did not understand or agree to the T&C. And the T&C was actually a disclaimer. I thought she was trying to do fewer jobs and take on more responsibilities. Moreover, the crew did not confirm the luggage with us. She mixed up the name of the luggage with my partner's without any communication.
The only thing good is not many routes there. It is a small airport so u can go through customs without a long queue.
I would rather buy a JR pass and choose FUK or KIX...
Read moreAs others have said, a surprisingly small airport, and a surprisingly long way from the city. But it's clean and efficient, and the buses straight from Hiroshima bus centre (right by Peace Park and Hondori area) are very convenient for tourists. But my 5 star review is primarily for the staff. I managed to drop my airpods somewhere before security, and not only were these turned into lost property (I love Japan and how honest everyone is!), the staff at the Lost Property desk were extremely kind and responsive over email, and extremely patient with me as I worked through the logistics of couriering them back to me overseas. (They would have done it for me if it was domestic.) So a huge shout out to the staff - I thought for sure that would be one expensive pair of virtually brand new airpods...
Read moreArrived at 7pm because I have the flight tomorrow at 7am and the first bus to airport from Hiroshima station was too late for my flight...had the idea of spending the night at the airport as you can do in almost all airports (or at least I could always do that) when a old policeman (unable to say three words in English) very kindly "kicked" me out of the airport because he let me understand that it closes at 11pm. So, at the moment (1.30am) I am wandering in the parking lot in chill weather and no toilet, scared that someone or the police can misleadingly perceive me as a thief...lucky me I put a hoodie in the bag for any circumstance... I really suggest to avoid this airport, especially if you travel early in...
