R119号に新たな道でき付け替えられた結果25.11現在では杉並木通らず日光社寺へ往来するようになってます。必ず杉並木通り日光へ行ったのも昔の話になりました。【歴史】1625年～松平信綱、正信親子により20年の歳月をかけて植樹された。紀州から取り寄せたよう。【範囲】日光寺領であった大沢～今市にかけて植樹された。日光街道沿いが有名だが他に例幣使街道、会津西街道にも杉並木あります。合計37kmほどで世界一長い並木道である。【維持管理】樹齢400年の木々も数多くあります。2000年頃から1本1000万円で購入しオーナーになってもらうオーナー制が導入されてます。管理者は栃木県である。【個人的に思うこと】倒木発生する可能性もあるが観光資源として活用しないと勿体ないと思います。今市付近は公園として整備されているが森友、大沢も何かしらの整備が必要かもしれません。歩行者専用道路にしサイクリングコースとして活用すれば利用者増えるかと思います。
