Why the five stars? This cooking class with Eat Osaka and the amazing Nathalie was certainly a highlight of our stay in Osaka. If you have time in your itinerary, spending these few hours with Nathalie really was enlightening, entertaining and immersive. Being able to share this moment with Nathalie made us understand so much about Japanese culture and traditions. We had a blast, it was so much fun. That’s what we are looking for when we travel to a place we’ve never been before.
What’s to expect? You eat delicious Japanese food that you cook while chatting and drinking roasted tea, you can literally bring these recipes home, you spend some time in a Japanese authentic kitchen and house, you learn about Japanese way of life, and you laugh a lot.
About the premises The house where the cooking classes take place is absolutely magic and authentic. It was clean, cosy, good vibes only and it has absolutely all the tools and ingredients you would need.
The recipes To think that we were able to cook all these dishes is absolutely out of this world. Not only did Nathalie make it easy to achieve but it was also super fun and absolutely delicious. We will certainly cook them again at home. The choreography was on point and it was so smooth.
About Nathalie The beauty of the thing is that we don’t know anyone in Japan, and we had so many questions as Japan first-timers, exchanging with Nathalie was a unique opportunity for us, it allowed us to understand so many things about Osaka and to benefit from all her tips and tricks. Nathalie is half British and her command of English is excellent, she also spent her whole life in Japan so she knows what she is talking about. She gave us loads of recommendations on top of teaching us how to make great food. Cherry on top, Nathalie was enough of an angel to take us to a nearby food market and to show us all the things we wanted to bring home. Nathalie has a great personality, very peaceful, enthusiastic, upbeat, she is a great cook and a great teacher.
Conclusion We are so very thankful for such a great time and would like to highly recommend this class, even if you’re not a great cook, you will not regret it. My husband and I would easily give her more than 5 stars if it was possible. We wish Nathalie and Eat Osaka all the success that they truly deserve. Will be posting content on social media tagging Eat Osaka so stay...
Read moreWe had such an amazing time with Nathalie at Eat Osaka! The other couple didn’t show up, so we ended up having a private class.
All the food we prepared was so delicious, I actually enjoyed our tempura more than the tempura we got as street food! And the udon and miso dipping sauce were AMAZING. Nathalie explained everything so well and she was so friendly. I loved chatting with her about things to do in Japan and giving her tips for things to do in my hometown. Half the fun was just chatting with her, but it was complimented by the very simple and delicious recipes. I feel like I can go home and actually make this meal, unlike other classes I’ve taken where it felt too complicated.
I also loved the location in the traditional Japanese home with many of the old fixtures. It made the whole experience feel much more authentic and I felt lucky to get to be in such a beautiful setting.
I cannot recommend this class enough. Please support Nathalie and her business, you will have an...
Read moreHighly recommend! I found a recommendation for this class from Reddit lol. But I’m so glad I did! I was traveling to Japan with my brother and my sister, and we were looking for an activity to do together. We have always liked cooking classes as we have one professional cook one novice cook, and one not so good cook. But Natalie was wonderful and she worked with all of us and our skill levels And not to mention it was just fun. She clearly has a lot of knowledge about the city and about cooking and her English she says is not good but is wonderful. The class ended up only having us three in it, but I presume that usually the classes are bigger. Overall, I highly suggest taking this class in this cute little spot because it’s a great bonding experience, it’s a good way to learn how to make Japanese food, and it’s customizable in case you have dietary restrictions. All of us are vegetarian, and Natalie modified the menu to suit our dietary needs. Be prepared to learn how to cook...
