There's a nice park at the top. I even saw deer from only five meters away. I hiked up the mountain by foot, which I wouldn't recommend. You'll walk on the road for the majority of the way. Besides, at least the day I came, you could not get to the observation deck, the shrine etc. at the top! It seems you have to take the ropeway to access that section. The path there was blocked through an...

The ropeway starts in front of the station and has intervals of about 15 mins. The view at the top is beautiful! There are some basic amenities and shops available at the top. There is a little and pleasant hike through the woods. We had a baby stroller and it was difficult to use it at the top, but the shop owner was courteous to park the stroller at the shop for some time. A full 5 stars...

There's a nice park at the top. I even saw deer from only five meters away. I hiked up the mountain by foot, which I wouldn't recommend. You'll walk on the road for the majority of the way. Besides, at least the day I came, you could not get to the observation deck, the shrine etc. at the top! It seems you *have* to take the ropeway to access that section. The path there was blocked through an electric fence.

下田観光でロープウェイに乗って訪れました。 ロープウェイは片道3分ほどで15分間隔の運行です。 山頂までの遊歩道はきちんと整備されていてお子さんからご年配の方まで歩いて登っていらっしゃいました。 所々に海を望む展望台や記念碑やお堂などがあり、季節の花も咲いていて、映えスポットが思いの外たくさんあって写真を撮って回りました。 ヒレの長い鯉のいる池があり、冬なので殆ど動いていませんでしたが綺麗でした。 一番心に残ったのは、寒桜か河津桜かわかりませんが早咲きの桜が満開で、今まで見たことがないくらいのたくさんのメジロが花から花へと飛び交っていた光景です。 ここは天国かな？と、日常を忘れられる一時でした。 思ったより時間をかけて楽しむことができ、ロープウェイに乗って登ってきた甲斐がありました。 私は時間の都合で利用しませんでしたが綺麗なカフェもあります。
