This is an easy 20min walk from the start of Yamadera temple steps. If you have extra time, do visit this place, it is very much worth the effort! It is so silent and peaceful here. 山形県山形市に境内を構える山寺こと宝珠山立石寺ですが、立石寺を開山した慈覚大師(円仁)は、様々な寺院を建立したと伝えられています。その当時、弟子と共に八院(本院、南院、中院、千手院、山王院、馬形院、芦沢院、安養院)を建立し、それらを総称して立石寺と呼ぶ様在は地名・集落名やその名を残すのみで八院全てを廻ることは出来ませんが遺跡や散策路を歩く事は出来る様でそうです。最上三十三観音、第二番札所、出羽百観音として知られる千手院、参道入口にそびえる鳥居は参拝者の願いが叶う様にと奉納された、ついてる鳥居なんだそうで触りながら願いを言うと良いとか、参道途中に線路が在り時々列車が通過するので注意です、千手院のご本尊は慈覚大師の作とされる木造千手観世音菩薩立像で今は秘仏として安置されてるので、別の金色の千手観音立像を拝顔出来ます。右手から奥に歩くと垂水参道を登ると、崖のくぼみ、鳥居や、神社などを見ることができ、垂水不動尊や円仁が修行宿として使われていたとされる場所も残っています。この宿跡場や不動尊、神社一帯を垂水遺跡、崖のくぼみにある神社や鳥居周辺を垂水霊境と呼ぶそうです。さらに歩くと城岩...
