Read moreMy recent experience at the Jolt Juice Stall at Organic Farmers Market in Karen was unfortunately far from satisfactory and, in fact, quite distressing. After consuming their Jaba Juice, a few hours later, I found myself battling severe illness. The symptoms were debilitating, including terrible diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, a really bad fever, and excruciating abdominal pain. It was a distressing ordeal, especially considering I had an important online meeting scheduled for the afternoon.
Realising the gravity of my condition, I urgently sought medical attention, asking my partner to rush me to the hospital. Upon examination, the medical professionals confirmed my fears: I had contracted food poisoning and was diagnosed with typhoid. This distressing experience has left me deeply concerned about the hygiene and safety practices at the Jolt Juice Stall. While I had hoped for a refreshing and nutritious beverage, the consequences of consuming their product were severe and potentially life-threatening. Take Caution with the juice & food stalls. I implore others to exercise caution when considering purchasing from this particular juice stall. The health risks associated with their products are too great to ignore. It is crucial for establishments like Jolt Juice to prioritise stringent food safety protocols to prevent others from experiencing similar health crises...
Read moreBest organic market in the area! It's a big space with everything organic - produce (from farmers directly, there's even jackfruit!), cereals (even the ever elusive cowpeas/kundeh!), raw chicken (Ololo farm), eggs, breads & crisps, cheese (Brown's), nuts, spices, jams, chocolate, lots of food & drink options (mostly organic), skin care products (Ugandan Shea butter, moringa oil), kitchen utensils, jars, clothes, arts and crafts, and plenty more.
Ready foods range from Vietnamese, Thai (they have mango sticky rice!), Chinese, Indian, pizzas, nyama choma, gelatos, waffles, crepes, German sausages, Brown's cheeses and fresh bread. And juices, smoothies, boba tea, cocktails and other types of alcohol to complete the experience. There's plenty of seating too to make a lovely day out of the trip. Plus it's free entry. Looking forward to returning!
I was told it used to be in KSPCA a year or more back but has since expanded to this space. The one in KSPCA is still operating but this is a way bigger space with more vendors.
Note that they are open here on Saturdays only. I learned the hard way by making an hour long walk + matatu trip on a Sunday to find a desolate, locked...
