Went here for 3 days 2 nights and stayed at Fishing Village it was a memorable experience. There are a lot of places to stay but if you come during the holiday season make sure to make a booking otherwise all the rooms will be fully occupied.
Fishing Village is the most populated area in Perhentian Island and food is not hard to get here. The price is a competitive standard island price. You can't expect a cheaper price here so spend wisely. Otherwise you may take a package that includes a meal so you can limit your pocket from severe damage. Most foods here are good, with a tolerable portion. People here are mostly nice and welcoming since they are used with tourists.
In terms of trips, there are a lot of snorkeling trips available here depending on budget. There are few famous snorkeling points which are commonly brought by the guide such as shark point, turtle point and lata air berani. Beside there are others packages provided by the guide just deal and negotiate carefully. Most of the snorkeling spots are clean and pretty.
Beside Fishing Village, another famous tourist spot especially foreigner is Long Beach where a better night life can be found there. Moreover, there are also plenty of private chalet, glamping parks and resorts available around Both Perhentian which are usually a bit high compared to staying at Fishing Village and Long Beach. It is for those who prioritize silence, peace and tranquility.
Overall 3 days is enough to explore Perhentian Island but if you want a deeper expedition, you can stay longer than that and go from each point to the other. The main transportation here is a water taxi where the price is standardized among the operator and if you are lucky you can deal to get a...
Read moreThe island is such a beauty, went to snorkeling lost of pretty fishes, and colorful corals. They have amazing fire show at long beach.
However me and my friend (girls) had a creepy experience here. Followed by 2 men from long beach to our hostel MAYA CHALET, at Coral bay. Both were drunk and very annoying. One tailing us the other one waiting in the middle of jungle. (From Long beach to Coral bay we need to walk in the forest with minimal lighting). Both sneaking suspiciously to the hostel. And we didn't sleep all night because we were TERRIFIED by them.
The blue shirt work at SEA VOICE DIVER and the black shirt work at our hostel, MAYA CHALET. And yes, we told this to the person in charge. Owners of MAYA CHALET and SEA VOICE DIVERS DID NOT take any action. KRAVERS PERENTIAN MANAGEMENT (we bought the entire trip here) has just moved us to another hotel, and did not investigate further.
Perentian Island is beautiful but it is a shame if the island is not safe...
Read moreOne of the most beautiful islands I have been to so far. But a looot of jelly fishes around the snorkeling areas, apparently not dangerous - but be careful, it hurts! Food is quite bad, I can tell as an Asian from Malaysia. Service is quite bad aswell, no big knowledge about tourism and if yes, then they are trying to scam you - even me as part Malaysian! If you do a snorkeling trip and have lunch at Mama's kitchen in fishermans village rather go with dry dishes (they looked better in my opinion), please no curry dishes those are very watery and it was pretty terrible. Not too many activities to do since Malaysian Island aren't that popular yet. Not too crowded here but enough tourists from all around the world who know about the beauty of...
