Tia Lily is fantastic! We arrived as guests and left as a family. Seriously, this was an amazing family friendly cooking class with Lily and her assistant. She was so kind and patient with us and our 7 year old son who still on this day, 3 months later talks about this trip and how much fun he had cooking and eating in Mexico. Everyone has a role to play and Lily keeps us busy. The menu was outstanding, learning about the ingredients and the indigenous Mexican communities in and near Tulum. Lily can throw down with the best chefs, she only does authentic and home cooked foods, much from her backyard. In addition, she teaches you how to appreciate and cook from the heart and focus on wellness when eating. We appreciated the mazcal tasting and introduction to roasted grasshoppers. My son loves them. The guacamole, salsa, soup, tacos and quesadillas - omg. Iâm getting hungry thinking about this delicious menu. I want it again and again. Nothing like any of the restaurants youâve tried. Trust me, this is good grandma cooking right here. The facility is nice and big to welcome a family but not too overwhelming for small intimate parties like my family of three. We left with recipes and local spots in Tulum to try. I will definitely take this class with her when I return to Tulum. I hope you do too. If you found this review helpful, please give me a thumbs...
Read moreThe BEST food experience we had in Tulum! If youâre in the area you definitely want to try this cooking class.
Highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in Mexican cuisine and culture. You'll leave with a full stomach, knowledge of how to make the food, and appreciation for the cuisine and the people who created it. The host makes the environment laid back and has everyone participate so it feels like a family eating together. She also provides you with great information about restaurants and other things to see in the area, so l highly suggest doing this early in your trip.
They also provide tips for making cooking easy. None of the recipes were overly complicated and quite easy to make anyone who was access to ingredients. Some of the recipes didn't require stove use, so it was great for an easy/lazy day.
As for the food we made: everything tasted amazing, honestly some of the best food we had while in Tulum and everything else we ate that day had a high...
Read moreMy husband and I contacted Lily only the day before we wanted to visit, as a last minute decision. Not only did she get back to us right away, but she was able to fit us in! We could not be happier with our experience. I don't understand how anyone could rate this a 1 star experience??? Lily is such a delight- she really is a great teacher and even better company. While she speaks great english, we enjoyed the "Spanglish" she used with us Americans. Made us feel comfortable while allowing us to feel like we were embracing the culture, trying to practice our budding and limited spanish skills. She kept the class and conversation lovely, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, like cooking with family. The outdoor kitchen was cozy, and the indoor dining area equipped with AC made for a comfortable dining experience and a place to cool off while dishes simmered. We just want to come visit Lily's kitchen again so we can learn to...
