This lovely jungle-side cafe lives up to it's enthusiastic reviews. It is darling. Comfortable. A BIG mug of excellent coffee, and some righteous food, including one of the best and most beautiful plates I have ever had. I liked it so much, I ate here twice. If they were open on Sunday, I might have eaten here 3 times. I had a couple of cups of coffee at Story Horse before coming here, and was glad to have one more. A gringo sized mug of great coffee. I was starving so I ordered a croissant while I perused the menu. They brought me a massive one. I managed to east every bite. I had a long morning and still wanted breakfast. Remembering my friend in Austin, Reed Barry, had made me this dish one morning years ago as a hangover cure, I was drawn to the huevos motulenos. A stack of beans, plantains, a crispy tortilla, ham, cheese, two perfect over-medium eggs and various lovely garnishes. (Pictured below) One of the most stunning plates I had ever seen. "too pretty to eat," I quipped to the waiter at service. But, eat it I did. Mercy, what an amazing experience. And most amazing, it was among the least expensive dishes on the menu ($130 MXN, about 8 bucks US). If you get to go to Tulum (I did, and will again) run, don't walk, to this lovely little place, out on the edge of town. You will be happy you did. I am happy to say, this joint is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! PS- That orange hot sauce is delightful DEATH in a bowl....
Read moreWe went in, sat down at a table and got asked to move even though there was two of us and we were waiting for the rest of our friendship group to arrive - there was 3 of us. Then comes the ordering, I was asking about mixing the dishes and I got questioned about if I could afford two meals - really insulting. Then the food comes, I ate my fill and signalled the waiter 4 times to come over - it’s been half an hour I’m sitting at the table waiting for her to come as I would like to take away the rest of my food. We are the only group of black people here and the service we are receiving is so bad in comparison to the rest of the people on the cafe. Bit of a let down as it’s next door to our accommodation but I personally...
Read moreAroma cafe was absolutely one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had! The French toast is to die for! I do not typically like breakfast or like to visit the same place twice on vacation, but found myself asking to go back a second day! The aroma sandwich and croissant sandwich were also delicious. The kitchen was very clean and you can tell the chefs put a lot of thought and care into their creations. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The first day we visited, it was much busier, but we were still well cared for and were in and out very quickly. The second day we visited aroma was our last day Tulum and we made it our last stop on our way to the airport. We will be back to Tulum and we will visit aroma...
