One of the highlights on our recent trip to Morocco was a morning trek along the Atlantic coast starting in Sidi Mbark south of Essaouira. This was a substitute activity arranged by our travel agent (Samuel Rojo of Caramel Trail) due to the unfortunate events that impacted the Atlas mountain area.

The hike was absolutely spectacular allowing us to walk across sand dunes as we made our way to the shore. The area was entirely remote with the exception of fisherman checking their nets while riding their donkeys. We came upon a rocky outcrop where a fisherman was resting his donkey and 2 camels in the shade. Such a beautiful and singular sight. Our guide, Ottomane, who runs his own company, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and a thoughtful caretaker of this beautiful area. After about an hour’s walk, we arrived at a Berber home where we enjoyed delicious food prepared by the home’s grandmother giving us a glimpse into the life of people who inhabit this area. This hike was such a welcome peaceful experience and we highly recommend Ottomane. Should we ever return to Morocco, we would certainly explore more options with him.

My husband and I spent the day with Othmane yesterday and it was a truly unforgettable and wonderful experience. Othmane took us on a guided hike through the desert next to the sea. We saw many gorgeous views, and Othmane was extremely knowledgeable about the geology and plants of the area, as his degree is in geology. Best of all, Othmane is such a friendly person and he’s so fun to be around. We really enjoyed getting to know him and learning about his philosophy of life. He took us to a friendly, welcoming Berber family home in the area and we relaxed and drank delicious tea and ate bread with olive oil, argan oil, honey and peanut butter. I highly recommend this experience to anyone and everyone and we will definitely be calling Othmane again the next time we are in Essaouira! Thank you so much, Othmane!! We will never...

Having seen some previous reviews online I decided to book three Be In Nature excursions: Thuya forest; Sidi Mbarek Falls; and Birdwatching. I'm so glad I did. The trips really made for a great vacation in Morocco. I discovered some fairly remote parts in the local area and whilst soaking up the spectacular scenery learned some fascinating insightful information on the wildlife and culture thanks to a brilliant knowledgeable guide. Ottmane happily answers any questions that crop up and leads the walks at a relaxed non-rushed pace. With his warm likeable personality he helped to create bonds among the group (whether small or large in number) and make every experience very enjoyable.
