I saw some famous YouTubers recommend Moroccan food tour for and thought my husband and I would have a good time learning about Moroccan food culture since they recommended the service. It was a waste of time and I don’t recommend this service for anyone.
My tour guide Abdul, was knowledgeable about Moroccan culture and cuisine but he told us in the beginning we would go to 7 or 8 food vendors but in the end we went to 4 and he ended the tour after 3 hours and not the 4 hours that we paid for.
The few places we went to were good and the food was delicious. Then on a tangent we went to a beauty supply store and the guide waited for us outside the shop.
We were told by the store employee that the shop only opens twice a month and the employees live a few hours away so we should make the most of the opportunity there. I thought it was odd that we would go to a beauty supply shop on a food tour…the store employee was really pushing her products that they were good quality products that Morocco was known for. I wondered why our tour guide would lead us to a beauty supply shop when we paid a lot for a food tour…would have gotten a commission if we bought from the store?
We went to the second Chez Lamine restaurant and not the original location that Mustapha opened and where Mustapha worked.
I was disappointed by this tour because it wasn’t worth what we paid for because we could have probably found places to go to by ourselves and Abdul didn’t seem to have our best...
Read moreMoroccan Food Tour is the only way to visit Morocco. My husband and I just finished a Custom 10 Day Tour with them, and we cannot imagine having had a better experience. They can be hired for Food Tours and Day Tours, but also as General Tour Guides to take you around the whole country. Mohamed, one of the cofounders of the company, is a true foodie and a certified tour guide, an excellent and super smart one. His driver, Ahmed, is a real class act and a very skilled and responsible driver. They both speak multiple languages and have fantastic senses of humor and are full of useful knowledge they are happy to share. They both went beyond the call of duty to make sure we were happy and comfortable. They paid attention to little details and were always punctual and respectful. Mohamed made sure we tasted and saw and experienced everything on the long list we presented him. And that was no easy task. Most importantly, they both made us feel safe and cared for. Please do not hesitate to hire this wonderful company. And enjoy Morocco...it is a feast for all...

The guide will tell you it's a lesson but they will hand you off to shop owner who will give you a sales pitch. It is an uncomfortable experience but you are completely free to say you wouldn't like to go and continue on the food tour.
My partner and I did the Fés private food tour. The good: you are led through the medina with a guide who knows the area and can answer questions. The bad: even though it was a food tour we were taken into Argan oil, metalwork, and leather shops and were forced to listen to a sales pitch and pressured to buy. Also the last location we were taken for the full meal is a place that other guides also take tourists, it is not a place locals would go and was easily the worst tagine...
