My visit was to explore the latest contribution to Swakopmund's shopping centres (or shopping malls). Unfortunately I cannot testify to a "wow" effect or experience. The major brands are represented, but nothing new was on offer. The building consists of two long hallways, linked by a short cross-section hallway with all shops lined up in a linear fashion on either side of the hallways. It is new, clean and fresh, and the use of natural light does score points for the building. Read morePlatz Am Meer is a modern, clean and well-maintained shopping center with a variety of stores and restaurants. It has a nice play area for kids outside and offers some ocean views as well. However, it is located quite far from the tourist center of Swakopmund. This makes it a very convenient option for locals to do their everyday shopping, rather than for tourists who are looking for unique experiences and souvenirs.
