Green Leaf Indian Takeaways — Local services in Christchurch

Now don't get me wrong, I love Indian food, I eat a lot of Indian food, always dine in & I usually take advantage of the $10 lunch deal.. But this Indian food I will not eat again ($12). Disappointing as it came highly recommended to me and I drove a distance to experience it. Firstly the staff could have been a little more helpful, I understand this is not a restaurant as such but I was eventually welcomed to eat in (there are three tables) then promptly told I had to eat out of the plastic containers, I'm alway happy to dinner in to help save our environment, once food arrived to put it simply.. it was no good, the curry very below average, the rice sticky, not light and fluffy, the nana doughy. First time ever I think I could not finish, oh and no offer of water & the whole time I was there not one person come through the door. I left.. put plastic containers and fork in bin out side and said to myself.....

So many people have given great reviews, so maybe the people who gave it 1 star caught them on a "bad" night, as I did I guess. I asked if I could have a salad added to the order...I was told they're too busy, great customer service! The chicken Biriyani was a solid oily lump of red rice, not nice, not much flavour, basically the opposite of what a lovely fragrant yellow Muslim biriyani should be! The Rogan Josh was just meat and gravy. I won't be going back for sure. Nothing like the superb Indian fare I can find everywhere in the UK. A waste of $50 in our opinion. I miss amazing Indian...

This is by lengths the most tasty Indian take-out option in Christchurch that I have come across (and I have tried a few.) The staff are friendly. Their extensive menu is available online and ordering over the phone is always efficient. When you pick up your order, you are greeted by the aroma of fresh spices. While being essentially a basic take-away shop, there is nevertheless the feel of a family-run business with staff who really care to the place.
