New World Stanmore — Local services in Christchurch

This is the supermarket I use the most. It is a manageable size to negotiate and has improved significantly.I have noticed a marked improvement with the majority of the new check out staff. A lot friendlier and helpful, with one or two exceptions. Some very nice young people working there. The deli has improved significantly and the wine pricing is very reasonable for your average supermarket wines. However: All that aside, for goodness sake, with all the money you make, you could do up your toilet. It is disgusting and outdated. 1 toilet for a shop that size? Not to mention the regular stoppages, which are unacceptable. As someone with health issues, and I'm obviously not alone in this, having to walk over to the Richmond Club to their very clean and modern facilities is not good enough. Really good quick service. Pretty much standard layout for a supermarket. Friendly staff, very helpful, and service was quick.

Plenty of parking except it can get scarce in peak times. Wheel chair parking and accessible entrance. Lotto, fresh produce, baked goods, fruit and vege generally of high standard and priced quite competitively.

I went there Xmas eve and found the experience to be smooth and hassle free. Good range of goods for a moderately sized supermarket with good stocks of the common goods you would typically need to fill the cupboards.

Not my local, but I have shopped here several times since its opening many years ago and would definitely recommend it as a good place to do a quick hassle free shop.

As a person with disabilities, I find it incredibly annoying that phone calls I make to check produce are almost never picked up. The one time I did get through, the man on the phone acted like me asking him about four products was a huge imposition. Also, stop leaving revolting lettuce out in the hope that someone will buy it. Just put out the fresh stuff. This happened last week. I phoned and spoke to a nice person in grocery who checked and said fresh lettuces had just arrived and to ask for them if they're not on the shelf. My helper did just that and got told they'll have to get the ones on the shelf as there's none out the back. Oh really? This sort of thing is unacceptable when we're paying premium prices and I'm not the only one that cannot shop for myself. I gave 1 start because of google...
