Also known as the cockles beach is part of the Shakespeare’s regional park. You are allowed to pick your own cockles though there is a 50pp limit. Plan to visit during the low tide to pick cockles. There are plenty of green around the beach for a picnic. There are also couple of bbq around if plan to cook your cockles. Be careful walking bare foot on the beach as it’s littered with cockles and there could be that odd broken once.

Okoromai bay is part of the Shakespear Regional park in Whangaparaoa area. Around 50km north to Auckland. This place is very famous to collecting 'Cockles' during low tide. But it's limit to collect 50 cockles per person. Very fun. This park also got couple of barbeque areas. Nice place to have a day trip with family. Please aware the gate close times for vehicles.

A wonderful beach to go collect cockles when the tide is low. Lots of parking, and a few electric bbqs. Bring fresh water, as the taps are turned off during winter

Dogs allowed in some areas, well signposted where you cannot. Popular, but not crowded. Bbq facilities and public toilets on site. No rubbish bins, so you need to take all your rubbish with you. Was there at low tide, huge expanses of sand and a few people out gathering cockles. Some of the tracks through bush, lots of...
