New World Stokes Valley — Local services in North Island

Only shop here when I need 1 or 2 items and even then often come home disappointed. Just discovered some yoghurt I bought expired four days ago (my fault really, should have learnt by now to check expiry dates from this supermarket!)... the shop before that I bought a box of coke cans for New Years - only to find one can inside had been torn open (looked like by a forklift). The box had been cellotaped shut at the bottom so clearly someone knew it had happened (it would have leaked everywhere so hard not to notice) but put it on the shelf anyway. No longer had the receipt to return. Other issues at this store are prices - don't know how any one on a budget gets on - there are a number of items with no price listed at all or sometimes still displaying last week's specials. Have raised this in the store and was told I should check the (tiny!) dates to check if the special still applies like it was my problem. I've also given feedback re prices displayed previously in New World's emailed surveys but nothing changes so won't be wasting my time completing those any more. Most of the time I travel out of SV to Silverstream New World instead which is a shame, I'd rather support local...

I loathe grocery shopping so on my darkest days I go out of my way to shop where the staff are always friendly and helpful. Staff are everything in a grocery store and the staff at stokes valley especially the checkouts and managers are always smiling and positive. I saw a lady who was obviously having a hard time with paying for food and bills and had a meltdown and the staff made sure all other customers were safe and they managed to calm down the lady and help her with her groceries. So compassion is abundant there not...

yes worst store ever... over charged what is on the price ticket cause i dont have a card(another card to carry around and to have all your private details!!!) if this happened in countdown they help you and always wipe the stores one card... and they say thank you have a nice day... wont be going back ever... actually last week after being threatened in the park on sunday afternoon i thought about finding else where to do my shopping now that has completely...
