The track starts (or ends) just off Ngauruhoe Terrace and ends (or starts) at the Skotel car park.
It’s about 6km and took us more than 2 hours with lots of photo stops.
The lower track from Ngauruhoe Terrace to the falls is slower but takes you through a wider variety of vegetation and beside the stream.
The upper track is mostly through heathland and is faster, plus there are lots of great views of Tongariro.
The track is well made and there are stairs (the longest flight of 94 links the upper and lower tracks).
