The only thing this place has going for it is ok decor, but don't be fooled..... Previous time we went as a family was around 4 years ago, terrible food and service worst than bad, it has never improved even though we went several times hoping to see massive change. Paid for food back then only to find they had 'forgotten' to charge and place the order for my main. So I had to repay and then wait while family had already been serviced and finished large pizzas ordered had curry on it (what the actual? so kids hatted them 🤮) $16 these days for mains (nothing else) for children is outrageous (and not even close to what you can get for kids elsewhere at between $8-$14 often with meal, drink and desert all included) plus if you get the $4 ice-cream expect to to be all of a small tablespoon shoved on a tiny cone, what a waste of money! Unfortunately we had to go back recently due to a gathering and I can't believe they are no better and possibly worse that all our other visits! Overpriced - literarily on everything they sell. This place does not cater for children at all, so families with kids and young teen should give this place a miss. Servers seem to spend more time avoiding serving and when they do appear at times hopeless/bored at their jobs, regularly making mistakes with orders - this should be a rare occurrence not a regular one, but it seem clear from our experiences, nobody appears to want to find or implement ways to fix the collaboration of issues in this place. Often service is poor, lacing care or concern and food is shoved out the same, if it hasn't already been forgotten about and have to be re-ordered. On top of this, honestly a smile costs nothing team. Asked nicely for a slice of lime or lemon in my $6.50 'lemon lime and bitters' and I got the thinnest see through slice..... so thank you SO much for your generosity! 😂 & man if looks could have killed from the bar staff! (Don't ask as they don't appreciate or want to give anything to customers) This is high end menu prices for under-average simple pub food! Again recently food was forgotten, desperately undercooked eggplant (even though we waiting 20-30 minutes longer than the rest of our table - and yes undercooked aubergine is hard disgusting get your cooking staff to try it and see if they'd be happy to pay for this! If I never go back in my life I think I'll be eternally happy 😃 Here are some helpful suggestions to help you dine elsewhere (so you don't have to waste your money the hard way) MAYBE TRY SOME OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS INSTEAD: Pearl Kitchen (just across the road) Izakai Bar & Eatery, The Freeport with Cleaver and Co, Lantern, Fox and Hawker, Astrolabe, Barrio Brothers, The Social Club, ... so many great places in Papamoa, The Mt and Tauranga with affordable and delish food along with great atmospheres and amazing service to boot - have a Google and go somewhere great - Goodbye 'Goodhome' (which you simply are not) and honestly, Good...
Read moreUnhappy due the lack of customer service when it was needed when our a meal was wrong, this is a add on from another complaint as i feel this place needs advice on where to improve. once the meal was wrong was agreed to be replaced with another one which we were grateful for but that's were the service stopped! the excuse for the poorly cooked salmon was because it was asked to be fully cooked it shrunk and was dry. I assured them that the piece of fish can be cooked without it needing to be dry and burnt the shrunken part is them being cheap. took a very long time for us to even get the replacement meal which in the end i said they can have it as we needed to go due to our little one was getting restless after 1H 45mins. We did not asked for a refund or anything paid for our meal fully which they offered a refund on it but instead of sorting this problem out turned to serve our people instead of finishing with us so we just left. Wasn't the most pleasant experience!
To rush the replacement meal thru cause we decided to leave and not have it cooked fully is not the way to do it the waitress asked for it to get done cause she told us 5 mins and from standing up to walking out she had it ready. fully cooked food has the potentially to get people sick. No taste nor the base was cooked as per photos .
The level of service that this place provided in a situation when things weren't right could be worked on tremendously , also if there is a issue with a review please reply to it instead of ringing my eldery grandma and getting very hosile with her. I'm happy to call you but take this review and...
Read moreAs it was a long weekend we thought we would phone ahead to make a reservation. It took quite a few attempts to get through but had to leave a message. Someone did ph me back and we got a booking, and glad we did, as it was busy when we arrived around 6.30pm. Unfortunately, they couldn't find our booking when we arrived, but I think they wrote down the wrong name, and a lovely young lady took over and got us promptly seated. She then sorted our drinks orders and not long after took our meal orders. We didn't wait long for the drinks and didn't wait too long before the meals either. Unfortunately, the burger order came with regular fries despite having asked for kumara fries instead. We caught her attention, and we didn't even have to say anything. As soon as she saw the plate she realized what the issue was and apologized and took the plate away. She brought the food back shortly after, saying it was better to have the burger while still warm and we could have the fries NC and she would bring out the kumara fries shortly, so the problem was dealt with quickly and everyone was happy. Another in our party had the beef and guineas pie, which apparently was very tasty; the chicken burger apparently was also tasty, and the handcut kumara fries were well worth waiting for-scrumptious! I had the salmon and quinoa main dish (see photo)- perfect serving size and everything was delicious, although the quinoa was slightly too cool. Overall a very enjoyable dinner that we are still talking about the next morning, and many thanks to the lovely young lady who served...
