I booked a scheduled jump at 16,500 ft for 3 PM on 25 July 2025, aiming to be closer to sunset for the view. A day before my jump, I received a call saying there were not enough people booked for my time slot and was asked if I could either reschedule to another day or change to a 2 PM jump instead. Since I was travelling from Lake Tekapo and had a fixed itinerary, I agreed to the 2 PM slot to avoid disrupting my plans.

I arrived before 2 PM as agreed, but ended up waiting for over an hour in the lounge before my actual jump. A group who arrived just before 2 PM were suited up first and jumped ahead of me, despite my earlier arrival (I reckon they were scheduled for the 2PM jump as well). In the end, I ended up jumping with another participant (scheduled for 3 PM) who had only waited around 30 minutes. This meant my original 3 PM jump time effectively remained the same, except I had wasted an hour waiting at the centre instead of enjoying more time in Lake Tekapo before travelling down.

This was the disappointing part of the experience, the organisation and scheduling could have been handled better. If the intention was for me to jump closer to 3 PM anyway, I would have preferred to be told so I could plan my time accordingly.

That said, the actual skydive was fantastic. Kudos to Linh, my tandem dive instructor, for a smooth, professional, and thoroughly enjoyable jump. The experience in the air was exactly what I hoped for. It was fantastic. The wait was the only drawback. I would still recommend Skydive Mount Cook, but suggest improving scheduling and communication to avoid unnecessary waiting for...

The skydiving itself is amazing, all instructors & crews are really nice. Except one thing, the admin system, that I really want you to know I really felt disrespected about this. I signed up for 1pm session today, The email asked me to arrive 30-45mins early, so I was there at 12:30. And after 1.5 hours waiting, I really lost my patience. There were so many people in the waiting room, but the fact is that each helicopter only can fit 3 groups of people. I asked the crew how long I should be waiting, he checked for me and said I still need to wait for 1-1.5 hours (about 3-4 rounds), so it would be almost 3pm, which you can mention when I did the check in process before. Finally I believed I get on the plane with the people who checked in at 3pm.

I have no idea why you asked me to be there so early if you can only serve 3 people at one session? It will be so much better if you told me that I was in the session at 1:30 or 2:00, or just let me know first when I arrived. I waited just like an idiot.

The email did mention that we should "allow 2-3 hours for the entire experience". I just so surprised that "waiting" is included in "entire experience". (I thought that might mean "teaching time", "driving time" or "preparing time".) To be honest, it almost ruined everything.

I highly recommend that you should improve this, let people truly enjoy the whole experience in the...

This skydiving experience was absolutely incredible and highly recommended! The organization was extremely professional, with qualified and experienced staff who made us feel safe and comfortable every step of the way. From the moment we arrived, everything was well-organized, and the process was seamless.

One of the standout aspects was the flexibility they showed when we needed to reschedule our original booking due to illness. They were very understanding and accommodating, which made the whole experience stress-free. It’s clear that customer satisfaction is a priority for them.

The skydive itself was amazing! The team ensured we were fully briefed and prepared, which helped calm any nerves we had. Once we were up in the plane, the views were absolutely stunning – a breathtaking panorama of the mountains, including Mount Cook, and the surrounding landscapes. It’s a perspective you’ll never forget.

The freefall was exhilarating, and the parachute descent was smooth, allowing us to really take in the incredible scenery. The instructors were fantastic, ensuring we felt safe while also making the experience fun and exciting.

Overall, this skydiving experience was unforgettable and one we’d highly recommend to anyone looking for an adrenaline rush combined with...

I could not have had more fun. I've never experienced anything like that in my life — truly a next-level, once-in-a-lifetime adrenaline rush. There was a bit of a delay in the morning due to weather and some late arrivals, but the staff were super apologetic and kept thanking me for being patient. Totally worth the wait. Everyone was awesome. My tandem instructor, Tony Bologna, was an absolute rockstar — tatted up, long hair, into hockey — basically my vibe in human form. He made the entire jump feel chill and exciting all at once. We got lucky with the weather and were able to do the full 16,500 ft jump, and I even had a videographer with me who hyped me up the whole way through. They really helped flip the nerves into pure excitement. I wouldn't have done it any other way. My brother was hoping to jump too, but he's a bigger guy (195cm, 107kg) and it was ultimately too risky with the wind conditions. They were incredibly kind and professional about it, explaining that it was about safety for both him and the instructor — no complaints at all, we totally understood. I'm so stoked to see my footage — I’ve got the bug now and just want to go again. Can’t recommend Skydive Mount Cook enough. If you’re thinking about it… just send it.

Having done my jumps out of the Wanaka and Queenstown, I'm sorry I cannot recommend this place at all. 2 stars for the smiley services on site and great tandem masters. Firstly, the plane was cramped, like really cramped. 3 jumpers + 3 masters and we're almost filled to the brim, and we're just average built. Doing a comparison of what I've jumped previously, those could easily fit 5-6 jumpers with their tandem masters. Secondly, the office was really small... Geez. Thirdly, the landing patch was so hard I could feel my tail bone injury again... I honestly didn't see this coming. Definitely different from my previous experiences. Lastly, and the one that bugs me the most. Their photos returned are in low res. Like, extremely low res of 1280px on the long side. Why? Lol. I can't believe it. Also, the photos and video are not returned on the spot for you to vet, unlike QT and Wanaka where they have a few computers for you to check out your media before leaving. I had to wait for my media for 3 days before receiving a link to download... So nope, definitely wouldn't recommend here at all.
