The best place to find locally-made art and vintage artifacts in Lagos. Could spend days going through all the shops and greeting the artisans.

It’s one of my favourite places in Lagos. I have found some of the most amazing vintage pieces and also the most beautiful handmade objects. Some of the pieces are created right in front of you.

The basket weavers will literally fix any of their products to your specifications or will scour the whole market trying to find exactly what you want.

The furniture makers are so good. From small carvings to large carved wall hangings and wardrobes and even bars the pieces are detailed and absolutely gorgeous.

The jewelry sellers have altered stuff for me like shortening necklaces and then taking the extra beads and making me bracelets out of them.

Then there are the paintings. So many! And so hard to choose from. And again, if you don’t find what you want, which seems impossible, the people there will figure out how to get you exactly what you want.

And hopefully you get to meet the glorious Madam ChiChi who sells beautiful vintage and traditional Nigerian artifacts. You will be instantly charmed by her. And her pieces will stun you. Just ask her to tell you the stories behind them, you’ll be happy you did.

Please don’t miss visiting this special place when you’re in Lagos. And remember, bartering is part of the fun/game. Because Nigerians love to communicate and argue...

A vibrant hub of African creativity! Visiting Lekki Art and Craft Market was a truly enriching experience. The market is filled with an incredible variety of handmade items—beautiful paintings, intricate beadwork, wood carvings, leather goods, traditional fabrics, and unique souvenirs you won’t find anywhere else.

Each stall showcases the talent and creativity of local artisans, and the sellers are usually open to friendly bargaining. The atmosphere is colorful, lively, and full of authentic African charm. Whether you’re a tourist looking for keepsakes or a local seeking unique home dĂ©cor, this place is a treasure trove.

Do wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to explore narrow lanes. The market isn’t very polished, but that’s part of its raw appeal. I left with some amazing pieces and even better memories. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates arts...

Also known as Elegushi International Craft Market is located in Jakande Estate, between 4th and 5th roundabout LEKKI Express way. This is the biggest Arts & Crafts Market in Lagos, Nigeria, and it has lots of indigenous pieces of artwork designed by local artists. It is specifically known as the home for arts and crafts from a wide range of talented and indigenous artisans. It combines different tribes and cultures in a space and allows a display of communism among these artisans.

Every artisan has a story to tell in their crafts; each painting, sculptures, bead work, leather work, and cane/raffia work has an embedded story to portray. Tourists and locals find their way to this location in search of original leathers, arts, paintings, sculptures, etc...

We had the opportunity to meet with these artisans and had a brief interview...

Before you set out, ensure your negotiation game is on point if it's not go with someone who is. Prices tend to surge and you'll be surprised how much you'll save if you negotiate properly. If you are a lover of art and a big supporter of artisans, try to curtail your excitement because this place will blow your mind, and if you express it so much, the vendors tend to pick up on that and escalate their prices. When you visit, you'll get to see lots of artworks, woven bags/baskets/hats, wooden carved objects, jewelry, precious gems and so much more. It was an amazing experience and I enjoyed every moment I spent there.
