MEEAT Gastropub — Local services in Kongsberg

Having visited Kongsberg for a day-trip and an overnight stay, I cannot say that I regret my decision to dine at MEEAT Gastropub; it was, in fact, the highlight of my evening.

The restaurant’s warm, cozy, dimly-candlelit atmosphere immediately embraced me as I entered after having walked some distance in the rain. The service was consistent, professional, and friendly, and it did not take long for my food to arrive. (Having explored some of the restaurant’s reviews online, I had decided to order the Jazzy “Bluecheese” burger with a side of Dirty Fries as well as a Vienna Lager.)

Dining alone as a foreigner, I felt quite comfortable throughout my experience. Furthermore, as an American (for better or for worse), I was particularly impressed by the quality of my burger, and the Dirty Fries only enhanced my meal, of course. After savoring all of this, it was only necessary to treat myself to some dessert, too, for which I ordered the Half Baked Cookie Dough, thus concluding my dinner on an exceptionally high note.

Ordered a varied menu with a close friend. The food was amazing, well presented even as takeout, and tasted wonderful. Staff was friendly and even gave a free glass of water to tie me over in the warmth while waiting on the food. Staff was fluent in English and quickly picked up that I did not speak Norwegian. The inside is very cozy, dark wood and soft pillows on the benches. Tempted to call it western inspired but I'm not an expert at that. It's not an option in the Google menu, but the garlic bread...

The food is also really good. They do large smashed burgers. So great crust and flavour while being pretty filling. I tried the Spicy, and to my great surprise it was actually quite spicy. The sweet potato fries that came with it were also super crunchy.

They have a great selection of craft beer, and gin. With some wine by the bottle and glass to round everything off. If you're in Kongsberg and want a good simple...
