This is a place where you go to for those one in a life time experiences. From the beautiful landscapes of the city all the way to the mountain itself it's like you are in for a trip of a life time.
If this is your first time going for a hike, you will find this mountain an exciting one from the very beginning. Let me bring in this important information for those who are reading this and are planning their first trip to the mountain; it's a one way in and another way out of this mountain please look through all my photos below. Now what this means is you can climb in through one route and descend through another but the thing is the route to descend is extremely steep and tricky for first timers but I recommend that if you really wanna have an unforgettable adven2then you should proceed with this descend however if you are scared of doing this, you have an option of going back the same way you climbed once you reach the summit. It is much longer to go back as you came from the summit but safer but its shorter and steeper going forward but that's what makes the adventure complete.
Unlike other hiking I have been to, you will always find people here who are heading your way so no matter how much you feel like giving up, just look at the next person around who will make giving up look embarrassing and keep pressing on. Like literally I saw kids between the ages of 8 to 11 on my trip smiling their way up while some adults were almost giving up. Back to the mountain, the views are intriguing at some points you just feel like camping for a while. Again for first timers, a few exercises before your trip may come in handy. Now let me take you through a pictorl journey of the mountain from...
Read moreavoid on weekends. From the perspective of a solo foreign backpacker this can be an expensive and ordinary hike you could easily do without a guide. However it is necessary to hire one at 800 pesos up to 5 people. Jeepney goes from Làkandula street by public market about 630 or 7am unless a private vehicle is hired. Get off at the school in Ampucao 800 meters from the highway. there you pay 100 pesos town registration and hire guide. i waited awhile for a group of 6 others to join and paid 150 instead of 1000 for 7 people. then you walk the extra 800 meters to trailhead back on highway and pay another unexpected 200 pesos denr fee. locals and student pay a lot less. i don't understand why not just have the one place by trailhead to pay everything? time waster setup. 9km total with 3 main hill climbs on route. Could take about 3.5 hours but we took 6 because group loved spending extra hours on photos plus an hour stop at a lunch shack right before the final descent. fortunately, we had a clear day. better to keep moving towards summit faster if clouds are building. from end of trail you are 6km from beginning. a mine jeepney may pass but we went on guide ordered jeepney for 400pesos split 7 ways. jeepney to Baguio from intersection of Ampucao is 50 pesos like it was...
Read moreSo, our adventure kicked off super early at 3:30 am in Baguio. We got to the school gym around 5:00 am for registration and a quick orientation. It was pretty cool 'cause they sell hiking sticks there, which are actually awesome souvenirs afterward! They also had caps, water, and even pancakes if you were feeling peckish. Just wanted to share a quick rundown of what I spent: ₱100 for registration, another ₱100 for parking, ₱800 for our awesome tour guide (worth every peso!), ₱90 for the environmental fee, and ₱400 for the car ride back to where we started. A little tip: you might wanna pack a rice meal, or you could just grab some grub at the canteen near the summit. And if you're a snacker like me, definitely bring some treats! Oh my goodness, the sunrise was absolutely breathtaking! It took us about 3 hours to hike up to the summit and another 3 hours to get back down. Our guide mentioned that folks who are more experienced hikers usually take around 4 hours. For us beginners, it was more like 6 to 8 hours, but totally doable! Honestly, this was such a fun experience, and I'd absolutely love to do it again. It's also a really great hike if you're just...
