Went to the Lot One outlet yesterday and was hardsell by one of their staff (I didn't get her name). She's in-charge of treatments only, not hairstyling. The treatment was rather efficient based on the scan but the staff pushed me to sign a package of 36/ 48 /60 sessions. Because of the number of sessions I was told to sign for, the total amount would be $6000-9000+ by the time I finish all the treatments. I'm not balding severely, just oily scalp issues which caused hair loss. Why would a 24 year old need such intensive treatment? Other salons would only get you to sign 8-10 sessions usually. She then told me to take up half of the number of recommended sessions. Which was still a lot! I told her that I want to talk to my husband and in-laws first because they did recommend another salon to me (which was value for money and affordable, my FIL did have successful hair growth), so I wanted to ask for their opinions and to compare the pricing. She was unwilling to "siam" initially when I said I wanted to talk to them. Had to really put it directly that I needed personal time to think and talk to them. She did give me a bit of space and came back into the room afterwards to kept on staring at me and repeatedly asked what was exactly my concern. Money, duhuh? And she said I shouldn't be controlled by them because this is my own money and hair. That was totally uncalled for. She also started to give a really sour attitude and said something along the line of "we shall see who can last longer here, I can sit with you till 9pm". Eventually, she cut down to 12 sessions. Very desperate for sales? I don't know. I was still considering there and then. Left the salon paying for the package of 15 sessions which also includes a free hair colouring and 2 bottles of shampoo + tonic. Was too tired to go on with her. Spent a total of 2-3 hours stuck in the salon due to the hardselling. Regretted buying into it and not leaving straightaway when I sensed something was amiss. I'm fine with packages and have packages with other shops over the years. This is the first time I feel upset paying for one because of the attitude. At the end of the day it wasn't exactly cheap either. Was charged $128 for trial too. Had visited this salon a few times and even bought haircut packages with them. All the other staff were amicable and they don't push you into it. Will write into CASE about my experience.
To add on, I went home and think about it and realised there could be some dishonesty in her words. At first she said that it's best I go back every week for at least 2 months until my scalp condition is stabilise. That's when she was trying to get me to sign for 48 or 60 sessions. After she cut down to 15, I told her I don't like to complete my sessions so quickly especially when I haven't even finish paying off. She said it's fine, I'm using the shampoo that is given, so I don't need to go back once a week. The shampoo is strong enough to help me with my condition. But for the 48 and 60 sessions, the shampoo is also included, so why did she told me to go back every week? It feels like to get sales, she really can come up with different...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSigned up for the $28 hair spa therapy promo; was told by my consultant that the final price would be $138 for a treatment more suited for me. I expected this but when it was time to swipe my card -- thank goodness I was vigilant and saw that she put $181 into the payment machine!
She explained that she added $28 for consultation on top of the $138 and then x 9% GST. When she saw I was upset by this, she suddenly waived off the consultation fee and charged me $151 (rounded up from $150.42 after GST). It's appalling that such a fee could just be waived off at the consultant's whims and fancy. (And that she tried to charge me higher without explaining properly??)
Later when I spoke to my friend who did the treatment with me, I learnt that her consultant didn't even charge her consultation fee or GST. (To which I was given the reasoning that her consultant waived it off without even telling her about it). It's honestly horrifying that Jean Yip has such a non-transparent model that each consultant can charge differently as and when.
After my treatment, my consultant also tried to sell me a package. What was a minimum 24-sessions pack quickly dropped to 12 sessions and then 6 sessions for the same price when I didn't budge. It's honestly disappointing for this brand that customers are expected to haggle for a good price, like at a street stall.
I didn't catch the name of my consultant and she wasn't wearing a name tag -- she's a short haired lady who speaks more English than the others. That said, my service person was fantastic and I did have a great head and shoulder massage. However, I would likely never visit 6...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for their trial on 8 -10 steps (cant exactly remember how many steps but its around there) anti hair fall spa treatment. there is a video in instagram or facebook showing step by steps how they do it and did exactly the same on the day i did it. so im quite impressed on no shortcut and honest treatment. from there i signed on 10 sessions treatment. but as the treatment package started to be utilised, i noticed they started to skip some steps and not only 1 person did it but subsequently almost most of the staff will skip some steps here and there. then each time i ask what happened to the missing step, they will just say āoh i forgotā ā oh the steps is not written properly in the cardā . to a point, i quite pissed off with their dishonesty! i requested to have only same person to do my hair all the time. and i somehow signed 2nd package becoz the therapist that did my hair is good at tat time. but now she no longer work there, and things happened again! Missing steps is high frequency and deep cleansing lotion, and essense after mask. When i asked the consultant again, she say āoh tat steps is never included in the package and only available for trial. your initial consultant ownself add on for you oneā Iām like huh what? got such things? Trial treatment is not the same as package then for what i buy it? wah!
How can i settle is untruthful...
