I have been using this Tingkat service for months, and I'm updating my review for a more holistic assessment:
Food: Generally OK. Decent quality, some dishes that I really enjoy and look forward to, such as their potato dishes and their fish dishes without bones. It's a pity there is no option to choose boneless dishes, unlike with other tingkat companies, so if you have elderly family members or young children, their meals may not be suitable. A bit heavy handed on sauces and gravy too, which is quite unnecessary as it's not very healthy and also ruins the texture of the food.
Value: The food portions are generous.
Delivery: 90% of the time they deliver within the promised time frame and there are no issues. But on the few occasions where they deliver late, good luck getting hold of their non-existent call centre. They have delivered past the safe consumption time twice in barely a month (I've attached a picture of my delivery. The clock shows the time I received it, and the safe consumption period on the sticker label), and they do not proactively inform customers if food will be delivered late.
If you call them when it's near the safe consumption time, they either put you on hold (probably because many people are also calling in), or they say they will call you back and they don't, although their official knock off time is 7.30pm. So you are left in limbo wondering whether you should go and get alternative food options or keep waiting until its past the safe consumption time.
You also need to write in to request a meal replacement if they deliver past the safe consumption period. They will not offer it to you otherwise.
Poor customer service really ruins a product experience, even if said product is decent. And delivering after the safe consumption time is a big no-no, especially when catered food is already more susceptible to food poisoning due to bulk cooking. I hope the company takes note of this, and don't take on more orders than you can if you can't deliver safe-to-eat meals to your...
Read moreHave purchased 20-days package with them twice now. Our experience with the 1st package was good, that's why we decided to continue. But after luring you in to a longer-term commitment (2x 20-days), their standard dropped drastically. They didn't change their labels on the tiffin cover, so we got wrong orders twice. When we informed them, they said they'll replace but what we got were frozen fried items which we can also prepare easily. Although they asked about food allergies and preferences, we still got something I CANNOT eat. Can I claim my hospital bill from them for my food allergy? During the phone call, the sales rep repeatedly informed me that they will "take not of food allergies but cannot guarantee that they will not send those items". Wow, what's the point then? This only happened for the 2nd package. The 4th dish is such a cop-out. It is almost always frozen food that is popped into the fryer e.g. gyoza, fried fish ball... We ordered Tingkat for home-cooked meals, not frozen convenience.
I read how some reviews said their delivery timing is good, but I don't think it applies to all. My delivery timing fluctuates throughout the entire window period, from 3PM to 7PM. Once, I thought they'd forgotten to deliver to me but turns out, they're that late.
Just trying to help others make...
Read moreOrdered the 8-day trial recently...now only 3 days have past and I shudder to think of the food I'm receiving next week.
I ordered 2 pax dinner tingkat and the food arrived at 3:30pm. I mean who the hell eats dinner at 3:30pm?? Ok maybe I'm one of the first customers to be delivered according to schedule, so I get to enjoy a warm and piping meal before the rest. BUT nope. Food was literally cold to max, not even a hint of warmness...I thought the food must be cooked way before 12pm. First few meals to be delivered and yet food still cold like overnight dishes?? This totally doesn't resonate.
Food quality and menu is ermmm totally way off. I'm someone that is very 'qin cai' in eating and my wife said that when even me complain about the food quality, then something must be very wrong with the food. All the dishes look inferior (in terms of look and taste) to regular mixed vege rice stalls at your regular Kopitiam. I don't even dare to open the soup to drink cos the color looks abit (sic)?
First time ordering a tingkat and the first timer experience is totally ruin. Maybe it's the same with other caterers as well? I dunno. Still thinking how to survive through next week menu before my trial ends... literally throwing away money on this as me and my wife just eat a few mouthful and throw away the dishes for...
