Disappointing shopping experience at Uniqlo Nex outlet. Served by a bunch of Gen Z part-timers who really need to have better training. It appears that many Uniqlo staff are only good at greeting “Welcome to Uniqlo” in their fake accent but are unable to address queries promptly or accurately.
Don’t get me wrong. I have nothing against Gen Zs but I have issues with people who give inaccurate answers without checking with their colleagues or managers.
I was shopping around and one of the staff readily offered me a shopping basket. I appreciate this thoughtful gesture. However, I observed that the Fitting Room staff gets stressed and anxious easily especially when the line is forming. I asked a simple question of where to discuss alterations and did not get a straight answer. She mumbled smth about “Counter 1” and I honestly did not get what she was talking about. She could have just said “Kindly proceed to Cashier for payment first”. Thankfully, a male staff heard our exchange and directed me to the counter.
Next, at the counter, I asked the female staff if AMEX was accepted, simply because not all establishments accept Amex. She said “I’m sorry, we only accept Paynow or Paywave”. I then saw a sticker that showed the Amex logo saying that Uniqlo does accept Amex. I told her what I saw. I don’t think she got what I meant. Perhaps she doesn’t even know what Amex is? After the payment went thru, I again hinted that it is acceptable. Hoping that she will remember this and not mislead future customers anymore. She thought I was having small talk. She was smiley and polite but looked very nervous.
Next, it was my first time altering pants in Uniqlo. Hence I was unclear about the collection date, time, process etc etc. I asked if it was an in-house tailor. She mumbled smth and looked unsure. Then later on, told me that I could collect it 30 mins later and she will “check with Auntie” to make sure. So yup, I now realize there is an in-house tailor! I did not want to wait so I asked if there was a date I need to collect my garment by. She told me 7 days so confidently and swiftly. I thanked her and left. This time frame was important for me because I am a working mum and needed to check my schedule.
After I left, I saw the receipt and it stated the following: Garments not collected by 3 months would be discarded. Alas! 3 months and a week is a huge difference.
So what’s the deal here? Is it right to give your customers false answers just because you’re new/unsure/want the customer to leave you alone/ line is forming behind? This is not the right learning attitude. It is perfectly fine to say you are not sure and need to check with your manager. I was perfectly fine to wait but I do not appreciate fake news. Please improve...
Read moreNEX is a regional shopping mall in Serangoon, within the North-East Region of Singapore. The largest mall in North-East Singapore and one of the largest suburban malls in the country, and is integrated with the air-conditioned Serangoon Bus Interchange and Serangoon MRT station.
Built on an empty plot of land right above the Circle line portion of Serangoon MRT station, NEX was developed by its owner, Gold Ridge Pte Ltd[1] and was completed in November 2010. The mall pioneered several firsts in Singapore, such as a rooftop dog park integrated with a dry and wet playground and Serangoon Public Library, the first public library to be built on a rooftop. The mall's second basement (lowest floor of the mall) houses the Serangoon Bus Interchange.
In 2014, the mall underwent minor renovations, such as renovating a part of Level 1 to incorporate fashion giants Uniqlo and H&M, and relocating Kiddy Palace to level 4. The mall's tenant mix was also slightly refreshed as well, such as Anytime Fitness opening on the roof level of the mall, and various beauty tenants occupying a part of Ground Floor (Basement 1) and Level 1, such as Innisfree, Sephora and jewelry shops such...
