Sheng Siong Supermarket — Local services in Singapore

2 cashier counters only and they closed both together at the same time but fortunately only for about 5 to 10 mins. I normally buy online with free delivery but this morning (27/03), when I was buying fish at this MacPherson outlet, one of the staff, a plump lady came to 'gao sua' her colleague from fish dept, asking him in front of customers which fish is fresh, the 1st or the 2nd one and keep one for her!!! I walked away to shop for other stuff 1st since she, as a staff was trying to shop at the same time as customers! 怎么知道，after getting the dried goods, I moved to the pork section, this lady staff walked past me and starting chatting loudly with the butcher about when her husband will be making 饺子 and she wants to buy some minced pork etc. Oh come on, customers are doing the marketing and there you are, doing the shopping at the same time as customers when you should be busy tending to your work or helping your colleagues even if your own duties had been completed. We are also not interested to know when your husband are making the dumplings and you seriously shouldnt affect customers' shopping experience and if that is not enough, when I was making payment, she went over and stood opposite the cashier attending to me and started chatting loudly again and my cashier was therefore distracted and slowed down a bit! Can't imagine if there was a long queue and this happens! Aiyo.. I better stick to my current grocery supplier who offers same day delivery rather then to listen to grandmother stories, do the shopping physically and having to carry the heavy...

Very well stocked for a small neighbourhood store. What I love is they carry a variety of most products that they have. There's always more than one to choose from. What amazes me is how sheng siong is so atune to their target audience's needs. A grocery store this size would usually be rather basic in their offerings but this one understands that young families also want alternatives such as oat milk (3 options) and even coarse salt (for making kimchi!!). 5 stars to most of cashiers especially Marcel. 3 stars to availability to products. Vegetables are bad. Saw the stuffs packing fruit at the back which don't look hygiene. Which is why I also rate zero for most of stackers who don't care about customers. They want to work so customers must be the ones to make way for them. N this can't be helped place is a bit cramped especially the cashier area. So managers or directors please look into that for convinience for both...
