Beautiful scenery. Reasonably well maintained. Bridge unfortunately not working. Apparently the council is not seeing it as a priority, according to residents. However, the bridge is necessary for domestic workers as well as schoolchildren who use it as a shortcut to Fish Hoek. The massive problem on the walking trail is dog owners who do not collect their dog poo. In summer the smell is disgusting. The dogs also damage the Flora and are allowed and encouraged into the water destroying fragile aquatic life. There has to be far better control over dogs on this pristine wetland.

This is a great place for an almost rural walk in an urban area. The paths are well-marked and there's plenty of singage all the way round the walk. Parking is available on both ends of the walk and there are plenty of benches to take a break. People are friendly and it's a safe area to walk or relax. There are no public bathrooms and some lookout points could be better lanned. But nevertheless, the area is informative, entertaining and a good use of time.

The Lower Silvermine River Wetlands (Q6693813) is a rehabilitated floodplain between Fishoek and Closely. Now I’ve never seen a western leopard toad (Q28932736), (Sclerophrys pantherina) doing its snoring call to attract females. But if you do, be sure to record it and upload the file to Wikimedia Commons.

This is right in our backyard so to speak. Absolutely love going for walks through the wetlands with my dog and husband. It’s always so nice to see all the other beautiful members of the community come out with their kids and dogs to enjoy the outdoors and take in the gorgeous scenery. The walkway is well maintained, there are poop bags (supplied by all our wonderful community members) and trash cans all along the walkways. Unfortunately one of the crossings (wooden bridge) collapsed, but they are working to fix it. We do have a really cool Otter sculpture that a local artist made recently, definitely something worth going to see! Best of all is, this is absolutely free and available for...
