I recently visited Avil Ale House and Brewery in Dullstroom and had an overall average experience. While there were certain aspects that stood out, there were others that left something to be desired. Let's delve into the different aspects of my visit.
The beer tasting experience at Avil Ale House and Brewery was decent, although it may not have aligned with my personal taste preferences. The selection of beers offered a variety of styles and flavors, but some lacked depth and complexity, failing to leave a lasting impression. Not only was this the case for me, but my companions also shared similar sentiments. While the quality of the beers was acceptable, they didn't quite reach the level of excellence I had hoped for.
On the other hand, the overlook and feel of Avil Ale House and Brewery was a highlight. The venue exuded a cozy and rustic atmosphere that added to its charm. The interior decor was well-thought-out, and the comfortable layout of the space contributed to a warm and inviting ambiance. It's a pleasant place to spend time with friends or family, offering a relaxing environment to enjoy your drinks.
One aspect that truly stood out during my visit was the exceptional service. The staff members at Avil Ale House and Brewery were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the beers on offer. They promptly took orders and provided helpful recommendations based on personal preferences. The dedication of the staff to ensuring a positive customer experience was commendable and greatly enhanced my visit.
Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a rating or comment on the food at Avil Ale House and Brewery,we did decide to not partake at that stage - hopefully next time
In summary, Avil Ale House and Brewery in Dullstroom offers a mixed experience. While the beer tasting may not have appealed to my taste or the taste of my companions, the venue itself provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The standout aspect was the exceptional service provided by the attentive and knowledgeable staff. Although there is room for improvement in certain areas, Avil Ale House and Brewery can be a decent option for those seeking a relaxed environment and...
Β Β Β Read moreNext on our Dullstroom to do checklist was the Anvil Ale Brewery, Dullstroom after getting sun tanned.
It's right at the end of the road. Wasn't keen on walking uphill in the heat so we drove. Yes we lazy like that and there was parking available π
We got to taste 6 of their beers. Sadly they didn't have stock of their pale ale :-(
I ordered a coke to start and it shows "Start your afternoon"..... with an Anvil Ale glass π filled with coke π€
Anyway we got onto the tasting. I quite liked the seasonal fruity beer, and then followed by the Blond and the White. To nibble on we ordered the best combo you could have. I mean Bacon and Chocolate, whose going to say NO.
We ordered the Bacon chilli poppers with Chocolate Sauce. OMG, those things were AMAZING π₯° The toasted 3 cheese was calling our name but we made a deal to stop at as many spots as we can to support and just get a small bite or something to drink in our limited time. They also have a Beans About Coffee branch if you feel like something warm, as my sis ordered a Cortado.
Lovely spot to sit and chill, great service from Seun, take a drive now and go give them some support now that the ban is lifted. They really need...

The grilled veggie sandwich was listed as vegan, luckily we enquired as to the lebneh origin - it was goat's milk and as such obviously not vegan as stated. This was a health risk to those who are lactose intolerant.
The food was flavourless and the portions were minimal - this is with regards to all meals ordered.
The coup de grace was the veggie platter for 2. It cost R220 and we more than happy to pay that - until we received our platter. Unfortunately we had ordered 2. We received a platter with a measly amount of pickled odds and ends with bread.
The hummus was about a teaspoon full, 3 olives, 3 slices of tomato, 3 slices of a baby brinjal, not even one full baby marrow, 3 tiny picked mushrooms and carrot sticks.
We consulted who I believe is the owner of the establishment - showed him the platter and told him that it could not feed 2 people nor was it remotely worth the price. He was incredibly nonchalant and dismissive which I think was the most disappointing part of the experience.
I would not recommend the food nor the establishment - there are plenty of other options on...
