I would like to give through my sincerest appreciation to the hospital and staff involved in my latest visit. (27/06 -28/06/2025)
In all my years and visits to the hospital, this was the best one yet.
I was admitted Friday morning for a procedure on Friday.
From the get go 05:50 which is at the end of the night shift I was greeted with smiles.
Within 15minutes all admin was finished and I went up to my Ward - ward 4
Greeted by the Nurse with smiles and showed to my room 410
All night staff was still very energized and happy so it was a very comfortable feeling.
Speaking to my roommates during the day it sounded that they also had a good experience.
At 16:30 I was taken in for my procedure and the porter who fetched me even made a joke and said my Uber is here.
Along with the porter one of the ward staff took me to the theatre talking with me all the way. (This helped to reduce the stress of the big operation)
Once in the theatre waiting area there was also a male man who made sure to give me a warm blanket and tucked it in.
I also got my drip inserted very quickly and easily by Dr Botman - who was also very friendly
Within the theatre itself all staff was also friendly and I quickly fell asleep.
Afterwards I woke up in the ward in pain and shivering from the cold, immediately the night nurse got me additional blankets and pain meds which sorted me out very quickly.
This is also my first time in all my operations where I did not wake up with a sore throat, Anastasia taste in my mouth or to struggle to wake up.
Throughout the night the experience was also very pleasant all the Ward 4 staff was helpful and wanted to assist, the Nurse also quickly responded with pain medication when necessary.
Before the night nurse left she also came past all of us again just to ensure everything that needed to happen after her last round happened, this is a first that I see this happen.
During the day the same amazing service just continued. Unfortunately I am bad with names and can’t remember all the names but I am sure you can check up on the staff shifts.
But in a nutshell – BEST visit and service ever, and I thank every employee that was part of this process as this was my best hospital experience in my life. Which says a lot.

Read moreI was admitted for 8 nights in ward 5 covid ward. The nurses tried their best to assist as much as they can. Sis Lindiwe, Sis Christina, Sis Tshegofatso and Sis Ntombi they were friendly, diligently doing their work. They do pain management. They don't wait for patients to ring the bell. They keep on checking all the time. When you ring the bell especially at night Sis Christina will come running and assure you that you'll be ok. I'm sure if she had a way she'll even hug but due to covid she can't. I must say big up to all the nurses, the physiotherapists and the doctors. They treat all the patients with respect.
The only reason I am rating the hospital 3/5 it's because the breakfast was always late the latest was delivered at 09:47. We take the tablets at 03:00 - 06:00 by the time the breakfast arrives we are very hungry, sometimes they mix up the orders. I suggest that they increase the kitchen staff and slightly increase the food portion it's too small. I ended up ordering from Wiesinhof and MrDelivery so that I can have something to eat when I was hungry. The medication made me hungry. Can I suggest that maybe they add the afternoon tea and rusk if possible.
They change the bed linen at night, at times they will come at 21:00 or even late, you have taken the medication and you are sleeping this interrupts your sleep. Can I suggest that they start at covid ward because visitors are not allowed by 20:00 they are done with the beds they can serve the rusk and coffee maybe at 20:30.
I have a concerned about having 4 patients in a covid ward. I am worried about the chances of infecting each other. You'll have 4 coughing patients in one ward. Shame we can't have a decent sleep because we are taking turns "in coughing". Please relook at that. I will definitely go back to Eugene Marais Life Hospital. Please keep up the good work. Thank you Dr H Prinsloo, the nurses, and the paramedics for saving my life.
Thank you to the cleaning staff, for trying your best to keep ward 5 clean. You are all in my prayers. May the Lord protect you and your families. I hope and pray that the scientists and the doctors will find the cure...
Read moreI was admitted in April at Life Eugene Marais Hospital. My initial stay was 5 stars the maternity ward staff took good care of us - I left my baby at NICU and there as well we received the best services.
After I was discharged accounting problems started. The hospital there's no guide or indication of what happens with your bill. So since I have a Medical aid for payments, one would assume that the hospital will take all the necessary steps to ensure that Thier patients bills are billed accurately and efficiently as well. Well to my surprise 2 months later the hospital hasn't obtained the Authorization number for my child's stay in NICU ansdie to that other services providers aren't being paid due to the missing Authorization number. I called several times and spoke to Thier Case Management department and the lady basically gave me no answers told me Thier system was down for a month they are behind on some claims. She then said she'll get to my child account that was in early May. Followed up again towards the end of May to check and they'd still havent requested the Authority number. Got my broker to call they said they do it in a week - 3 weeks there still no claim. Called my medical aid to check if they'd gave the hospital any authorization number under my child and they said they haven't received any call from the hospital. To my disbelief today they send me a bill requesting payment but they know that they havent requested for an Authorisation number in order for them to claim from my Medical aid.
I HAD HIGH HOPES REGADING THIS HOSPITAL NOW WITH ALL THIS BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM STILL BECAUSE THIER STAFF DOESN'T WANT TO DO THIER JOBS CORRECTLY THEY ARE GIVING ME A BILL THAT MY MEDICAL AID IS LIABLE FOR PAYING. AND TO TOP IT ALL THEY KNOW THIER PROCESS BUT THEY ARENT FOLLOWING THEM. I'm highly...
