Trying to do work i side stein city as a contractor is a nightmare. Please bill your client at least 10k extra if they want work done inside Steyn City. My bakkie that i bought 2 years ago is blaclisted on their system. I have never entered this place with my bakkie. They deny you acces and cannot give you any reason at all why the bakkie has been blacklisted. And for the life of me dont let someone steal your drivers licence even if you have a valid South African ID with you they still deny you acxess. Their sucurity rules needs to be looked at. They have wasted 3 hours of my time. Ans 3 hours for u who do not do contract work is a lot but for us working as comtractors that time is our food in our fridves. (I am reviewing as a visitor, not a tenant). Steyn City is aptly named as a "city" because that is the feeling one gets when you are here. What may at first seem dystopian, due to the estate not being completed and full yet, is actually a pleasantly peaceful seclusion from the rest of Johannesburg. Likely bringing reduced noise, reduced pollution from vehicles, probably reduced crime, given the security protocols in place. There is plenty of foliage around, in the woodlands biome feel. I haven't had the time to see how much of the foliage is native, but naturally some non-native plants are expected in landscaping. The housing feels very hotel/resort like in style, at least at the city centre, but I do wonder if it will age well in say 15-20 years stylistically. Still in the development stages. Is a super gated community with a shopping center being built in the estate. Does have its own school catering to the tenents and surrounding community. Auto and General CEO is responsible for its development. Huge community projects involved in nearby Diepsloot. The American school is a stone's throw away. I taught there for four years. Huge international community, safer than other areas. Upmarket, dainfern Golf estate is five minutes away. Lanseria Airport is 3p minutes away during off-peak traffic.
