I waited a while to let my anger subside over the experience we had at this "pizzaria". My wife and I had the misfortune of getting hungry while on holiday in St Helena bay at the end of January. The town is quaint and most of the tourists were gone, so quiet and well, nice. Much to our misfortune we decided to go for pizza on our last afternoon there and...that is where the small town charm was ripped from our consciousness. We ordered two simple pizzas, one margarita and one hawaian. The owner was manning the order and till. We paid it was communicated to us 15 minutes. I was reading the comments on the wall, which all seemed to be from new year's eve...anyway the corner of my eye caught sight of the dough which was to be the base of our pizzas, it looked like crusted over grout...first warning. So the wife and I went to gobshop for some libations for the evening at the Tops around the corner. We were back at the 20 minute mark. I arrived in the shop seeing two people stuggling to get a pizza out of the oven by brute force. Apologetically the owner asked for a redo...second warning. Then after a further 20 minutes redo number three and, long story short, on attempt I do not know how many and hour and a half of waiting rewarded us with two pizzas. About an hour later I dug into mine. Nothing on this earth could prepare me for the abomination that I had received, a crust so dry it was like chewing tasteless gravel, the toppings were haphazard and economically challenged in placement and overall I was given something akin to oily cement mix to eat. If I was the owner of this establishment and I wanted to survive what I assume is the first year, I would study and work on a workable solution to what may be teething problems and that is my charitable opinion. Otherwise just close the doors and...
Β Β Β Read moreThere is no such thing as too much pizza, even average pizza. Hawaiian is as versatile as a topping as pizza is as a dish. The thin base keeps things light, and perfect to enjoy cold/later more so than any other pizza know. Things tend to get busy in the evening, especially over weekends waiting-times of upwards of an hour the norm. Which is normal for any good pizza place. Calling in your order solves the problem, you can set your watch to their Pizza ETA.
Tip: If your usual order is a standard/ππππππ pizza, order a large. If, like me, you think ππππππππβes is a good start order two. You will thank me later tonight or tomorrow morning, in the unlikely event that will last that long. The lighter πβs also come with a lighter π° costing to about the same price as franchises for double the pizza.
