We booked our tickets at the hotel that we were staying at so we got to skip the queues on the day at the site which was a great relief as it was so hot and busy. We decided to drive to the parking bay and hop onto the shuttle bus which drives you to the site where you may purchase tickets, buy refreshments, memorabilia and gifts. Or you may hop onto the sightseeing bus which also drives you to the same spot. You have to follow the lines to get on the elevator to reach the platform to wait to board the cable car. It can get chaotic as people don’t seem to want to follow the order in the queues and just push and rush in once the doors open so I suggest if you have little kids, pick them up and carry them into the car so that they don’t get shoved or pushed away from you!! The car can carry approx 65 people at one time and the floor rotates as you ascend or descend the mountain top so everyone gets a chance to have a 360 view and take pictures and videos or just admire the beauty. Once on top of the mountain, there are plenty of places to take pictures and videos. There are vast trails to follow, beautiful fauna and flora to admire and to just take in nature at its best. There are very clean restrooms on site, a coffee shop, a gift store, an ice-cream store and a beee garden. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. There are restaurants and gift stores at the bottom area and on-top the mountain so you can choose which to visit. Our overall experience was great I would love to go...
Read moreThe Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is a must do activity while in Cape Town. This landmark is visible from everywhere in the neighbourhood and beckons one for a sure visit. We did book online tickets, but there really no need for it, since there were few people and we had to line up only about half an hour before we boarded the cable car. The price is R490 for a return ticket and it does seem rather steep since the ascent and descent just takes 3 minutes each. The capacity of the cable car is 65 and there is really no need to rush for any particular side, since the floor rotates 360 degrees giving a view all around for everyone. Once on the top, one can walk around and see the lovely view of the city, docks, Robben Island, Lionhead etc. Well marked trails allow you to explore the table top and enjoy the views. We were fortunate to have lovely weather and one should be should be prepared for a ‘table cloth’ - a sheet of clouds that suddenly blanket the whole neighbourhood. There are the usual pictures that are taken at the entrance and one can buy them later and souvenir shops are available both down and up at the table top. Parking can be tight if there are crowds, but one should drive up and beyond the entrance to secure a spot. There is also a free shuttle if one parks below. This is an experience I would recommend for anyone...

The rotating platform of the cable car allows you to enjoy a 360-degree perspective, ensuring you don’t miss any of the stunning scenery.
We decided to go in the morning, and it was the perfect choice. There was no rush, and it wasn’t busy at all. However, when we came down, we noticed a queue forming for the trip up, so going early definitely has its advantages.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, enhancing our overall experience. They provided useful information and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable during the ride.
Additionally, the cableway offers special discounts for students and adults, making it a more affordable adventure.
