Worst experience in an airport and hereâs why:
Ibiza airport have no idea how to run an efficient modern airport security service. The treatment of families with children is appalling.
There were no checks at all until you got to security so as expected an idiot took a very large suitcase through the security check full of water and aerosols etc.
The checking (either random or if bags with liquids/sharp objects etc) happened ON THE CONVEYOR BELT which caused a huge backlog and queue of people waiting to have their bags go through security.
Virtually no concessions for families with young children and we were queuing for a very long time behind people having their bags checked for water ON THE CONVEYOR BELT at security. There was a small kids cot nearby so it obviously happened a lot. The experience with my 18month old was appalling in comparison to other airports weâve been through.
When I asked two or three security staff why they were not able to do the random checks or pull open the bags with liquids somewhere else, to allow others in the queue to keep moving they were so rude and totally incompetent - they had no idea what I was suggesting was even a thing. I had to explain several times that in other airports the checking of bags happens OFF the conveyor belt allowing all the other people to continue through security without creating a backlog of families with screaming children. The response was âitâs okâ (no it isnât when Iâve been waiting an hour with my young child to go through security with one smal handbag because of your incompetence) or âwe have to check bagsâ (obviously but thatâs not the point - you simply have to amend your process to allow for the random checks and checking of fluids etc to happen OFF THE CONVEYOR BELT allowing other people to continue through security without delay)â âif I take this bag away to check then I have to close the entire queueâ (doesnât make sense at all - I understand you need a certain number of people to man the queue but you might find that four or five queues that were efficiently run would be better than ten with a broken process run by incompetent people) .
Finally, many airports now have security scanners that allow fluids so this is likely to happen more and more frequently as people get used to going through security with liquids. But as Ibiza airport is still stuck in the 1980s Iâm sure they are not aware of that at allâŚclearly these people have no idea how to run an efficient modern airport security service.
The facilities were ok, toilets, baby change and food in a few small cafes some small shops etc. but nothing amazing to be honest and I even thought I probably wouldnât go back to Ibiza with my family if this experience is to be repeated - since the main event of going through an airport is security which was one of the worst weâve had and we have travelled widely even with our young child - it really did ruin any possible positive experience we might have had with the...

Fast you can find a huge Monitor where the flights are displayed like at any Airport.
But then problems are appearing.
Not at all Check-In counters the Monitor have displayed the Airline and possible separate Check-In for Business Class passengers.
In my case I have asked the staff where I need to go to.
The Monitor has displayed nothing although a young man was sitting behind the desk.
He was not trained well.
There was no Supervisor.
He wanted to send the luggage to my Stopover Airport.
Thanks God I have seen it and corrected him...
Finally I got the correct tags/Labels on my suitcase.
My advice: Please check that your luggage can go to the correct Airport!
Then I went to the Security-Check.
All was well organized with enough tracks and staff. But the staff was not talkative and has not informed me that I am allowed to pass.
What I have missed:
Correct signposting and directing to Toilets and possible Lounges which I have not found like at MALLORCA AIRPORT.
There are enough Shops and small Restaurants.
BOARDING: Again a bad joke: Handicapped people in an armchair should pass. Then all of them needed to return. Then officially BOARDING started and was displayed. But nobody was allowed to pass. Another 10 minutes later we were allowed to pass. BOARDING groups were not announced. While passing we went downstairs to catch the Bus on the Airfield. But the Bus has not arrived and the passengers needed to stand on the stairs for 10 minutes!
My subjective individual rating:
Check-In: 2 points Security-Check: 4 points Restaurants:3...

So wonderful to be here in this city Ibiza for the great festival and lots of media coverage.
But I hate to tell you donât know is you will by tactical and fact will be get robbed from lots of thrift watching you. And police wonât find them around you or in the airport outside. And I wonder đ if cameras are working or someone behind them so they can catch the suspect person.
And the bag that you have it will vanish immediately and you wonât find it.
Story started :
once we arrived my carryon bag was stolen from the car. And havenât noticed it till we arrived at the hotel.
So the process will be so annoying.
I lost my all legal documents including my passport. I went to the lost and found and the guy was sleeping đ¤ and told me nothing came!
I went to the police in the airportđŽđźââď¸ and told me I have to go to the central police station. So I did.
And I did opened a new clame and they started taking my answers with lots of questions and they was helpful more the ones in the airport.
I was putting a tracker in itâmy bagâ.
Since that day itâs showing me the bag in the airport for a day. And I went but havenât seen it.
Next day I followed the tracking till it took me to a place close to the police department 6minuts by walk.
At that moment I did remembered even when itâs took me to the airport as well was showing me âtrash boxâ spots.
So I opened that trash and I saw my bag and someone else bag.
So if you lost your bag at the airport watch the trashes and I promise you will get it. Instead of going to the police or lost and found office. Donât bother them...
