An absolute gem! Such a treat to tour, and especially grateful for the guidebook available in the gift shop for a deeper understanding of the history and the meanings of the place.

This place is not just a historic relic to tour, it is also an active albergue for pilgrims on the Camino AND an active monastery for Cistercian (Trappist) monks. The monks allow pilgrims to join them for Vespers (evening prayers) and even had a printed program available so we could follow along with the prayers, which I really appreciated. Absolutely fantastic.

The gift shop had some items that were very helpful for me on Camino like a bar of soap (I had JUST run out of mine that I had packed) and a hoodie (it is much cooler here in the evenings than I expected for summertime), and also some lovely trinkets for me to take back home to my family that couldn’t walk with me (a thimble for my mother and a rosary for my father)…

Highly recommend. Not...

It's a really great albergue and completely renovated, the monastery is also nice. However, it is an albergue for pilgrim's who's are going to be serious and be in bed by 10. We were in the kitchen playing guitar, as with everyone else, and the porter was very annoyed and chased people for an hour blowing a loud whistle and telling them to go to bed. So don't come here if you won't be in bed by 10 as otherwise it's an awkward experience. Equally the kitchen is fully stocked, so you can cook and it's great, but it's locked between 10pm and 9:15am so you can't store anything in the fridge unless you leave super late in the morning neither can you have breakfast there. Also in the high season there is a very long queue to get in and the process takes some time so get...

Fantastic place and wonderful hospitality! We stayed here while walking the Camino And it’s a fabulous and memorable experience. The brother who checked us in is witty and extremely friendly and so was Anna. It is beautiful and peaceful even though the albergue was quite full. Fabulous facilities for €10 and you also get a free pass to view the rest of the premises which is grand inside. The room was warm as they had a heater going which was very pleasant. So worthwhile staying here or even visiting to see the stunning architecture. The gift shop is lovely and has affordable items. The service at 7pm was beautiful although I didn’t understand a word, the harmonies were quite beautiful and moving!...
